I'm in Halifax and was at the game. The Cats played the first 10 minutes of this game the way they seemed to play most of the first against PEI last night. I think they forgot the Halifax is a pretty hard working club and for the first half of the period, the Moose simply beat the Cats at their own game. I could count on one hand (after a bad farm accident) the number of battles along the boards the Cats won during this time. The Lessard goal seemed to bring them to life. I've noticed that one common thread with this club all season long is that they really gain some jump in their game after scoring. You can almost feel their confidence rise, unlike last year when they tried desperately to hold on.... or say the 99-00 team which just expected the goals to come. Likewise, the goal also deflated the Moose. From that point on, it felt like it would just be a matter of time.... and it was. LBD was good but not great. Was a bit shakey in the early going. The Moose came close to scoring two more goals. They hit the crossbar just before Piette opened the scoring... and someone else (Chermetiev I think) floated a harmless looking shot into the crease that went through Domingue's pads and off the post on the opposite side. He did however make a couple of big saves when the game was still close. The last 40 minutes he might've faced two tough chances. Most of the Moose shots were coming from the perimeter. A few years ago, I invented a character called "playoff Hepditch". This was in reference to the fact that Josh Hepditch was always bound to score twice as many goals in the playoffs as the regular season. I think we now have a character on the team called "Halifax Matt Brown". He scored his first Q goal at the HMC last year and hasn't looked back. As for the rest... Lessard was a force in front of the net. Both goal the result of smart hard working heads up play. Cameron actually played an underrated game (didn't think it was possible)... he seemed to play a strong game along the boards while still winning faceoffs... so I guess he can be a strong player when used properly. MacAusland officially can't buy a goal... however, he probably won more one on one battles than anyone else tonight. At first, I didn't like him on a line with Sill and Brannon... I'm now more of a fan. Andrew Roski will get his head taken off sometime this year. It's just a matter of time. I like the kid well enough... but he's going to have to learn to tone it down... before someone on the ice does the teaching for him. Overall, a decent enough game. The 2-1/2 fights (Sill vs. O'Connor was a hugging fest... guess he missed Lane ) made it more entertaining than it should've been.

One more thing... if the guy wearing the Moncton Alpines Jonathan Coursol jersey posts on these boards.... you are the man!

Q site has Cameron scoring the goal that would have been Brown's 2nd of the night. Replay clearly showed 71 got his stick on it to redirect. Perhaps they mixed 71 and 17.
