He is better of going to school, get an education play some hockey while going to school if you can but the important thing is school. Obviously if your on the taxi squad in the Q you are not going to make a living playing hockey. Too many kids are being brainwashed be these so called hockey experts and in the end the kids get burnt. If he plays in the Q ... he can take a few university courses ... paid for by the Q team ... and also accumulate bursary money to pay for his further education. Playing in the Q will also give him a better chance of playing CIS hockey and getting more money for his education.

The comments about Riopel are hilarious. First of all, he can't be there, he's 20. Second, awful defense!!!!! Barberio, Savard, Jodoin, Gormley, Boyle and Dimitruk is far from an awful defense. Wouldn't Riopel still be considered a 19 year old for NHL draft purposes? Not sure when his birthday is, but they are talking about the invites to Team Canada in that article.

It's a bit weird because of right now he is considered a 20 as far as the Q goes, but the NHL would consider him a 19 so he could be drafted. If he completed his overage season already, he couldn't be drafted as he would have free agncy rights

He has been passed over in 2 drafts already ... after his 17 and 18 YO seasons. The only thing the NHL cares about now with him is that he is eligible to play pro when the next season of hockey starts up.

If Mccaron cant play in the Q.. how is he supposed to be able to play CIS hockey which is all older players that played in the Q or Junior A players that were pretty exceptional.. and to play in CIS you gotta be up to par.. take by example Bryce Swan and Brett Morrison that were both drafted by Anaheim Ducks and they are both playing for X and Brett Morrison almost won the scoring title in the Q

If i am correct.. did Riopel get an open try out with the wings or i might be just day dreaming of this.. but i am pretty sure he did Last year, Riopel and Mayer were invited to the Montreal Canadians rookie camp and Mayer was rewarded with an entry level contract. Not sure how that happened given their performances in the season but I believe said camp was closed off to the public.

with the performance of Riopel this season.. the Habs signed Mayer to an entry level contract so Rio must not of had that good of a performance at the camp.. even tho hes tood on his head all season long.. in my opinion i think that he should have a great shot of getting signed or drafted
