I totally forgot about Brodeur. Wouldn't mind seeing him wear an "A". I honestly dont see Broduer getting a letter this year. He just doesnt seem like that kind of player . Sure he plays on alot of minutes , he his a vet . But I just dont see him as one of the leaders on this team , this season.

I wouldn't like to see him get an "A". The thing that I really hate about Brodeur is that he can't throw his body around. They guys a giant and I think I've seen him lay 3 or 4 solid hits, total.

................and please people don't start the "if Brodeur comes back from Phoenix " crap this year ! The Kid is barely strong enough to play at this Level and he will need at least 3 years in the Minors before he is even considered NHL Ready !

For a 4th round 17yr old he's done quite well for himself these past 2 seasons and should be a very good defenceman again this year. I haven't seen any credible poster say a word about him actually sticking in the NHL. Anyone else we need to shit on before camp starts?

At the Prospect Camp he couldn't lift 125 lbs ........"ONCE" as noted on TSN ! There are kids playing for Riverview and Academy that can do that and most likely a dozen or so reps ! I'm not shitting on him and there were people last year when he was still with the Coyotes during Pre-Season Games that thought he may just stick based on "size and potential" . Let the kid play here this year and when / if Phoenix signs him , I wish him nothing but the best . I will remember him as a very nice Draft Steal who was a steady contributor . However because I made mention of last year .........you say I'm shitting on him ? Typical Johnny Bower !

The shitting on him is saying he's barely strong enough to play at this level when he's not only played at this level but excelled as an excellent defensive defenceman despite lacking the physical part of his game. We all seen from Brett Maccarron's play last season how good those SA and Riverview players must be. I love how players the lack physical play get criticized for it. But players that ONLY bring that and lack any ounce of hockey sense get a free pass from the fan base here, usually because they're local. Every player needs to improve areas of their game. But you only singled one out.

I think this kid is a very valuable asset 5 on 5 and on the PK but he really needs to take it to the next level, strength wise! As far as McCarron goes, last year was a complete bust and unless he breaks out this year at 19 which i doubt they basically took away a spot from a 16 or 17 year olds development

He CAN be excellent though. I agree with everyone that he needs to improve the physical part of his game, but I think he gets unfairly treated because he's not out throwing the big hits even though he has great defensive instincts. I'm all for playing a physical style but not every player on your team has to play that way to be successful.

I'm all for playing a physical style but not every player on your team has to play that way to be successful. Nobody is saying he needs to hit like Charles Fontaine or Prokopetz or even Piscakek but he needs to be standing people up at the blue line instead of giving them line and getting crossed up 90% of the time or stick checking that makes him look like he has zero athleticism. He needs to use his size to his advantage not his disadvantage. He has a great upside to be a very responsible and consistent defensive defenseman with shut down capabilities but needs to polish his game after two years in the Q. In my opinion he has had two very good years but he needs to take it to the next level this year.

Brodeur is a very valued D-Man. He has more of a tall and lanky build and therefore it takes more time for him to fill out. Once he does he should have no problem at hitting. As for the weights he just needs to work out more. Oh yah & I wouldn't be expecting him to get a letter this year.

Nobody is saying he isn't a valued D man and just because he hasn't filled out doesn't mean he will have no problem hitting. Right now he doesn't even know how to throw a hit! If you go to any eagle games you can see that as plain as day. Someone needs to work with him on that aspect of the game and he needs to commit to strength conditioning. Just think if he added that dimension to the game how much better he could be.
