Let's set a few groundruleson these game threads. These are only suggestions: 1) The thread title should be " Date - Visitor @ Home" eg. "Nov. 3/09 - Saint John @ Halifax" 2) The threads should never be made more than three days before a game 3) The threads should never be made more than two games in advance (i.e. make threads for the next game, and if within three days, the one after that) 4) The thread should contain more than a prediction and a "Go boys go". If Saint John is coming to town, give casual fans a little info about their top players/starting goalies/last five games.
All that said, I think having one person create the threads reduces confusion. I'd volunteer to do so, as I'd appreciate the opportunity to reseach the opponents.
Again, just throwing it out there. It's up to the mods, and the Moosetalk regulars to decide, I suppose.

But I still think people should be able to post comments about an upcoming game. You should not be restricted to the day off the game to talk about that team. I personally don't think ground rules are needed other than the ground rules that are for the full board. As one of the two Mods for Moosetalk (MikeC is the other) I am against adding more rules than the rules for the board. I don't think there is an issue here except 1 poster who is a homer poster. But there are already rules surrounding posts on all boards. As one of the two mods on this site I feel no need to restrict debates or communications. Rather I want to encourage more discussions. Moosetalk is one of the most active boards (second to Bathurst for posts...but we have way less threads). This tells me that Moosetalk has more threads with discussions going on and less 1 - 2 post type threads. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I completely agree it all sounds fair to me but I agree we should be able to discuss the game a few days in advance, I mean come on these boards are dead with no one posting in over a week I'm all for it if it gets people talking again!!!

I mean come on these boards are dead with no one posting in over a week what??? Bit of an exaggeration on her part, but there have been times when the Moose board hasn't been posted in for 2-3 days. It doesn't happen all the time but it does happen in between game days.

I think of the early boards where people would chat all night on different posts and we did have lots of fun with Harv and Ug,Murph and many more too..I agree there always has to be rules but to cut off discussion about team is not a great idea. Also only one person starting the daily posts is not a great idea either but special thank you to Beaaver Banker for start this post...

I see no need for specific rules, however I would prefer whoever starts it to use proper posting etiquette - spelling (Mooses?), spaces, punctuation. Just so it's easier to read.

And when would those 2-3 days have been From September 1 to today there has been at least one post every day on Moosetalk.

I guess this was more the intent of my post. Webber is right - Canucklehead does a fantastic job on his GDTs on the SJ board. We don't need that level of detail, but let's have the thread be a starting point for good discussion. I also should add - I am one who DOES enjoy the optimism that hfxfan09 brings to the board. I'd much rather read that than some of the other idiocy that gets posted here.
