Beat me to it. Was just about to come post something on this.
The suspension is not surprising at it was a very dangerous hit that we were lucky Gillard got up so quickly from.

I'm happy they didn't base the size of the suspension on any injury(ies) suffered by the hit like most leagues do nowadays.

Whats sad is, that hit was way worse than the one that happened in the OHL where the kid was suspended for the season.
Goulet chased Gillard into the corner, looking at his numbers for 4-5 strides and still planted him head first into the boards...
The guy in the OHL stoped actually skating at the faceoff dot and coasted in and Fanelli turned his back...
I know life isnt fair, but ya gotta feel for that 20 year old player who had his career end on a BS suspension that was based on the fact Fanelli was injured.

It was a very selfish hit. From where we were sitting(section 6) we saw that hit from behind coming from a mile away and I know Goulet did too.

It was a dirty hit I was terrified that Gillard was hurt bad the way he stayed down, we had a good view of it too Penguins23 were 2 rows from the ice in Sec 11. It was a real nasty hit it earned the 5, match and the 4 game suspension ,he's lucky I'm not commissioner I may have given him between 5-10 games for that hit!!!

I can't remember seeing a hit at the MC that looked that bad both in terms of the illegality of the hit and what you expected was the seriousness of injury... just got lucky on the injury. And I agree about it vs. the OHL hit.
Seeing Gillard get hit like that made my stomach sink and you expected to see the stretcher and an injury putting Gillard out a long, long time. Great to see he wasn't seriously hurt though, very lucky.

I made it into the game, and was sitting in section 19, pretty well right in front of the hit. Last time I saw a hit that gave me that "this-is-not-good" sinking feeling in my stomach was when Kloucek laid out Tanguay 10 years ago.
Glad to see the suspension is fair, and most importantly, that Gillard is OK

Finally the league did some thing right here four games is a good suspension and Like everyone else really glad that Gillard was not hurt and just had lost breath and balance for a little while..It would be very hard on Moose to lose him too.He is really coming into his own..We can see why scouts and management are so high on his skills..

I'm happy they didn't base the size of the suspension on any injury(ies) suffered by the hit like most leagues do nowadays. Unless of course he should have gotten more but they decided not because Gillard wasn't injured.

If the hit was actually worse than the hit the OHL and it got 4 games vs 1 season , then they absolutely considered that he wasnt injured.

The entire season is an over reaction, four games is more realistic. I was pleased to see a match penalty called on Goulet, I did not expect supplementary discipline by way of suspension. I didn't want to come out and say the suspension in the OHL was overblown incase people disagreed with me and chewed my head off for being disprespectful but it seems most others agree. In my opinion to say Goulet's discipline was linked to the result of the hit there would have needed to be just a 2 minute minor the way he jumped up so quickly. Four games is fair.

talking to a friend today I imagine his club team is going to appeal that suspension he is a 20 so this is his last season, the hit on Gillard was way worse; a season is stretching it a bit!!!
