Topgun, the 2nd paragraph of today's article in the post begins with, "Team captain Nick MacNeil, Luke Adam and newly acquired Jacob Lagace have been put together on both regular duty and as a power play unit". I guess I must have misread that somehow. . Sorry that I miss read it . My bad

In an interview with Ken MacNeil, Luke Adam said that Nick MacNeil had been telling him how well this team compares to the 2006/07 Eagles.
That 2006/2007 team's top 4 D that year consisted of Luc Bourdon, Oskars Bartulis, JC Sawyer and Beau Prokopetz. The goalie wasn't too shabby either!

The actual bodies in the rink tonight was over 4100. They don't count the 900+ comps from redemption night, on the Q site. It looked nice to see an almost full rink. Not a bad game, was kind of over after the first period but there were enough interesting things to take away from it. The kid Verroneau getting the win in his first start. He did everything you could ever expect of a 16 yo callup playing his first-ever Q game, and seemed to handle the nerves of that first start in front of a big crowd well. So close to the shutout! Lagace with his first as an Eagle, against his old teammates, but perhaps I was more glad to see Felix Bergeron's hard work and patience pay off with his first Q goal! Kid was so happy afterwards, great to see. And continuing with the firsts, I thought Steve Woodworth looked great in his home debut with the Eagles. He's only 16? What a nice pickup. Logged plenty of ice, has good poise, nice shot, good size - even picked up an assist when his rocket went in off Taylor MacDougall's visor of all things. Great debut. Speaking of that goal - what an endorsement for the visor! Without one, that's a broken face for Taylor MacD instead of a goal! Lagace looked OK in his home debut - that line still needs a few more games to establish any decent kind of chemistry though. Despite the concerns about Nick moving back to the wing after his success at centre, I actually thought he was the best member of that top line tonight. I know Max Legault is close to returning, but what about Horyl? All seems quiet on that front - starting to get a bit worried. First you hear an injury's day-to-day, then a while passes and the guy's still not back........ gives me too many flashbacks of Steve Dixon and Robert Slaney..... of course it's too early to press the panic button and actually make those comparisons yet! But it'd be nice to hear some word on when he's expected back. For Chicoutimi, their little 16 yo goalie Gusse played a gutsy game. He didn't panic after a couple of early goals that couldn't be helped. Their two veteran defencemen, #79 Gelinas and #71 Jalbert were good. Gelinas was of course briefly our property before we flipped him to the Sags in the Lagace deal. Wonder how he'd have looked on our blueline had we kept him? Not that it matters now obviously! What's happened to Richard Martel? The guy who used to be a one-man circus back in the day...... standing up on top of benches, smashing sticks, directing line brawls, getting those crazy googly-eyes going........ now all he does is quietly and stoically stand behind the bench, maybe a word of advice for the kids here and there. Is the legendary Richard Martel, the one-time Captain Crazy of the Q, getting mellow in his old(er) age? ;D Nice to see the new faces make an impact tonight, and I'm happy for the kid Verroneau.

Our top 4 D that year consisted of Luc Bourdon, Oskars Bartulis, JC Sawyer and Beau Prokopetz. The goalie wasn't too shabby either! not a bi g fan of macneil ..............you are right though............and he knows the difference too ...........ken has been trying to be overly positive sometimes as he may be trying to hang on to a job he should have lost............. thats a ridiculous statement to make

Jack, you were right, Luke made a point of saying that he and Nick were talking and comparing the 2 teams. It was Nick MacNeil not Ken MacNeil. - It was a careless mistake that I modified.
However,, the main point is that the D does not compare that favourably!
I apologize to fivehole as well.

I find Hertzburg is playing extremely well. He is playing well in both ends. I was thinking that he might be good on a line with Legace. Might be a good combination.

Good win. I felt bad for Veronneau not getting the shutout as it lasted quite a bit. Nice job by the guys for limiting the shots. A few good saves but not too many ds. No chance on the goals that were scored. Beauty by Jalbert on his 2nd of the night (deserved a star IMO instead of a minus 3, 0 pt Gelinas). Really pulled off the throttle near the end of the 2nd into the 3rd. I thought it was going to be a romp after the first. Bergeron looked good, too, besides the goal.
Start and hopefully hold that same starting momentum tonight against PEI!

I like Nick MacNeil but there is no way in hell he should have got a star last night sorry Deer but that is the truth. He was out of synch he whole night and he should be centering line 2. Can these three gel probably but it is sick to think that putting all your eggs in one basket will work.

looking at the game sheet, how did that MacDonald guy choose Gelinas as Chicoutimi's token star with no points and a -3? I know you can't tell everything from a gamesheet but that seems a rather strange star selection to me?

We all make mistakes... it's part of what gives life so many variables and makes it a bit more interesting..... and I've got no problem admitting when I've made one. In hindsight, you guys are right - Jalbert shoulda gotten a star over Gelinas. Gelinas seemed to log the most ice of anyone on either team, got the lion's share of PP and PK time, and just looked like a reliable horse out there. However I was unaware he was an ugly -3! That alone shoulda given the star to someone else on Chi (maybe Jalbert, but I didn't wanna read too much into two late goals that didn't change the outcome at all... one goal of which was a fluke, even if the other was nice), but I missed it. Mistakes happen!
MacNeil though I thought played a nice game at all ends, and had two assists. Yes there were a few times that Lagace tried to hit Nick with a pass only for him to be nowhere to be found, but I wouldn't blame that all on Nick. The entire line was a bit out of sync - understandable given it's their first time together. In spite of that, I thought MacNeil moved the puck well and did a good job on the forecheck.
