Great first period, Eagles really took the play to Bathurst!
Anyone catch the pre-game show? I'm interested to know why Piskacek is scratched. I don't imagine he'd be a healthy scratch but at the same time, you have to get all the defensemen in there.
How confident does Corcoran look rushing the puck?
Real bad break on the play where Gouchie had a breakway... Mariani was very much held offside (by Labrie maybe?) I wonder if a play like that shouldn't be called interference.
Like Kenny said you see the inexperience on the blueline like Malka taking the puck instead of the man... but you have to love Malka's speed recovering from his pinches. He made a nice play to get back in the first, similar to the one he made Friday night on Didomenico on the play Lamontange took the penalty.
Good thing Slaney returned after being hurt!

Entertaining second period even if the Eagles were on their heels on a bit at times! It's hard to see on the webcast all the stuff developing behind the play but there was certainly a lot of chippiness behind the play. (It's also entertaining to see how Ken spins some of the stuff that's happening on the ice ) Great to see Prokopetz stick up for Gouchie when he was jawing with Labrie. That hipcheck that Beau threw was an absolute MONSTER! Pascal is biting the bullet by going with the younger guys a lot on the PK, as he usually does early in the season, but I don't disagree with it- baptism by fire, even if it leads to some scary moments. Benda had quite the adventure coming out to play the puck and passing it back, I had sights of that going into the empty net! I wonder what happened with Slaney's injury as he came back late in the first and then missed a few shifts in the 2nd before returning again. Aside from the bad penalty he took on Critchclow, good period for Quesnel. He's showing that he can manufacture offense on his own so I don't think it will be too long before we see him on a scoring line.

What a great win for the young Eagles in Bathurst today! I'm really impressed with the mental composure of the team to carry the play in OT after letting go of that late goal.
The rest of the league is learning what we suspected since training camp opened- our D will be tough to play against. Some monster hits from both Corcoran & Prokopetz today. We know Lamontange is capable, although in the 3rd period it looked like we saw what we were afraid of during camp, taking unnecessary penalties and just not having his head in the game.
I love that even though Mariani is playing as a forward, he's still first back in his own end- I believe it was he that made a big play that might have saved a goal taking a Titan forward out of the play on a Benda rebound.
Speaking of Benda, he might not always be technically sound, but you can't complain about this kid's game today... only goal allowed was on a bad break. He made all the big saves many of them on point blank opportunities. The Eagles D is poised but young and will (and did today) make mistakes, but Benda was there to bail the team out.
I thought Finn looked quite composed out there.
It will be interesting to hear comments from the Titan fans, because as great as the webcasts are it's hard to pick up everything on them. But not too much to be upset about as an Eagles fan today!

Great game by the Eagles they dominated us in all aspects of this game ... strength , foechecking and speed .
Legault pretty much stole us a point with several key saves to keep it 1-0 after two.
Lamontagne was just as nasty out there as we was when he was a Titan. One mean Dman who is great in front of the net and Prok still a fan favorite ... got a cheer when he took out Labrie.
CB fans are going to love this team as the young players look pretty good skill wise and are a hard working group.

Tough road trip for a young team but to come out with 4 points so far is very impressive. The D looks very composed and Beau and Alex look like very stellar and solid veterans along with Spencer. Anyway will be interesting to see what happens when cully and sheppard get back.

I wasn't around to listen to or watch the game, but man was I happy when I logged on and saw the result! Another game I didn't expect us to take as the Titan are a very strong team and we always have trouble in their rink. Perhaps I was underestimating this young Eagle hockey club. Not only did they get the win but they by all accounts really outplayed Bathurst today as the shot clock (39-27 or something?) would indicate.
If the early season is any indication, we may have yet another extremely hard-working Eagle team on our hands here............. and if so, I love it. We as a fanbase have really grown to appreciate the hard-working, aggressive forechecking style of play we've been treated to for the past three seasons - would be awesome if it was much of the same this year. This style has been in effect ever since 2004.......... with us only getting a little bit away from it in parts of last year when powerplay time was sometimes awarded to players who weren't playing the best and stuff like that.
Great to see Phillipe Fontaine pop his first goal in the Q, and you knew that Joey Haddad's first as an Eagle wasn't too far away. OT winner = what a way to get it! And great to see Marek Benda have a very solid day in the crease.
It's only early in the season but a lot of positives so far. And any three-game road trip where you can grab four points is great.......... now let's shoot for six in Rimouski on Tuesday night. They'll be coming out strong, you would think, after blowing a 3-0 lead and losing 4-3 to Victoriaville today.

The strangest things happen in a season I thought that Sheppard was gone and that, without Sawyere,Bartulis,MacIlveen,Fergus,Pavelec, this team would be trading the left assets in Ouellet and Culligan next Christmas. Now it looks like your team got a very good chance to make the next playoffs and finish mid-pack and hope for a good playoff run like the Titan last season... I was impressed by your young core and it bodes well for the future years. On the other hand, the sky is very cloudy over Lewiston and is getting cloudier by the day.... Today, if someone asked me who could finish last, I probably propose them followed by Saint-John. St-John's will be in the playoffs.....

Agreed, no need for over-reating or stupid predictions based on a good weekend. It's great our kids are stepping up and performing, but they don't need more expectations placed on them because they're playing over their head. But of course the comments are coming from the king of on the fly evaluation based on a 1 or 2 game performance. None of our fans have said anything out of whack yet, we all seem to be enjoying the ride which is all we should be doing at this point.

The only thing mentioned above is that CB is not a last place team as far as I could see and I challenge you to prove me otherwise..... I also mentioned that Lewiston would be a last place team without Bernier,Perron,Chaput,Castonguay and Giliatti...again show me otherwise.... PEI was, is and will remain badly coached.
