Maybe he was, but his posts certainly look like trolling to me. Never any substance to them except to knock down any achievement accomplished by any Moose or former Moose player. As for your 16yr old trumping Knotek. Apparently the Gms in the conference do not feel that way. Hell Roy may not even be the best rookie Goalie in the conference, let alone Rookie Roy is the best 16yr old goalie in the Q. He has the #'s to back them up. #1 in wins and shutouts for a 16yr old....and all behind a defence full of rookies and journeymen. I agree... but it is strange. This isnt a halifax fan poll, its the division GM's voting on this stuff.

I've been going to Halifax games all year, and I regularly go entire games without noticing Knotek. I'm actually a bit shocked he has the stats he has. Are his stats inflated by playing with Voracek for most of the year? I think they are a bit.
That said he has very good raw skills, including a great shot.

Yeah, I think so, don really recall him getting many points when he wasn't playing with Voracek......He is not very flashy, kind of sneaks under the radar a bit.....

I would of said Roy too but it's all good.
Good to see the Cats cashed in on the hardest hitter, dirtiest player and biggest pest ;D
Good to see despite the crappy PK we have one of the best PKers in the league. Sill will be captain next year hopefully.

It's always interesting to read what GM's think, and I'm glad to see the recognition that Dean Ouelett gets, but seriously... wow... some things in there that make me question you the whole process...
- As documented by many, I really can't see how Knotek gets top rookie over Roy. Although aside from that, the choices regarding actual on-ice stuff is hard to question.
- The CCC gets a vote for BEST arena??? WTF?? Fans walking in front of the play, having to walk all around the building to get to the section next to you, a scoreboard made of brail (C200's isn't even THAT bad), having to get stamped to get INSIDE arena concessions, worst sitelines in the Maritimes... just... I'm seriously amazed.
- Halifax as having the best fans? It MUST be about numbers because to me Bathurst wins that hands down. (And I also agree with Deer that in spite of its smallness, Bathurst is a dandy little town to visit!)
- It's interesting that they voted on worst uniforms because I can't really think of any that are BAD. I actually like Saint John's... I think they're sharp and I also look how it's a different colour scheme as opposed to the rest of the division (although sort of similar to Lewiston I suppose.)

Its hard to give BAT best fans when they draw significantly less during down years. I agree with everything else you said though

Its hard to give BAT best fans when they draw significantly less during down years. I agree with everything else you said though That's because they don't have corporate support like Halifax does... I don't think that relates to the "real" part of the fanbase. Also, percentage wise even down years they don't draw too badly considering how small the town is. Finally, I thought it was supposed to be a poll on the 07-08 season, ergo we should be measuring how good their fans are THIS year.

CCC as being a good rink, probably is from a team POV, not a fans POV. All the negatives you mentioned, don't relate to the teams themselves. They probably look at the facilities they use, ice surface quality etc. Same with best fans, and places to visit. Probably not looking at it through your eyes.

One small correction / clarification: the article implies that the Maineiacs are hoping to hold the Memorial Cup in 2009 in the rink voted "worst" by 3 GMs. The tournament bid is for the arena in Portland, not the AB Colisee. The author had to know that; don't know why he chose to spin it in that fashion.

Halifax's attendence doesnt fluctuate at all between down years and good years....so you cant realy say its because of Corporate. The same people go to the games whether the team is shit or whether its good. BAT has large fluctuations...40% differences sometimes. Your last point is somewhat valid, but best arena and best fans are likely going to be awarded based on longterm. Its not like the quality of the rink or fans changes much from year to year.

Just noticed, Mile Once Center here in NL has 1 vote under " Worst Arena", but then has 2 votes for " Best Arena", second only to Halifax. EDIT: Yes I realise I said Mile Once Center, Mainly due to the fact it will soon be a Sobeys

They may not have the greatest #s, and the #s may be fickle, but in terms of how the fans actually act in the rink during an average game.......... per capita the fans in Bathurst are the best.
To me the example of this I saw this year was in the second game of our Feb 1/2 doubleheader there, which I and a few friends attended. The Titan were blowing the Eagles away 3-0, and local boy Remi Blanchard then scored his 1st of the season to make it 4-0. When it was announced over the PA that it was Blanchard's first goal in the Q, the place erupted into a heartfelt and entirely spontaneous standing ovation that I simply don't think would have happened in any of the other 7 rinks in the East Division.

I don't want to start a pissing match with a certain poster...but I think you answered why the rating in our opening statement. Bathurst has the largest flucuations of numbers from good seasons to bad seasons amongst the eastern teams. Would you get the exact same response about Blanchard if the Titan were a losing team? I doubt it for the simple fact the numbers would be worse...so there wouldn't be as many people. I do think they would cheer on a local louder than say Halifax, because Bathurst is a small community. Smaller communities are more prouder of their locals doing something. As for if it's the worst, I don't know. But they polled the GM's who go to a lot more games in the opposing teams rinks than I can ever hope for. If they felt that way, I am sure they have their reasons, and no offense, I take their opinion more serious than posters on these boards (myself included).

ya Mile One Centre is a shitty arena that must rank down near the bottom of those other awesome buildings in the east

I agree, Bathurst fans are awesome! ;D Quality not quantity If I had to pick worst fans they'd probably be the only Eastern team other then CB that I wouldn't even consider voting for, Moncton included.
