i think doyle has the potential to be our top player this year. he has started off well. no doubt he will be more comfortable and expect to see some great goals.

If Doyle is our best player this year we're in for a very long season......... next year however I fully agree with you he will be a league star by then.. this year a 35 goal 60 -75 pt season would be about the best i'd expect.. and there is nothing wrong with that at all

I can see Doyle scoring 40 this year. Not saying he will but I don't think it's entirely out of the realm of possibility. He scored 18 in 50 games last season after breaking his jaw, which can't be an easy injury to come back from, especially having to wear the bird cage for as long as he did. He'll get more PP minutes and play in more situations this season being one of the go to guys. Plus he should have that much more confidence with the selection to the U-18, and hopefully a good tourney. And it's his draft year so he'll have a lot to prove.
But 35 sounds more reasonable. I just think 40 is possible.

I agree.. however if he is our best player that means Morrison and/or Walker didn't return or sucked.. and that would be a bad situation for us
I realistically think 30-35 and 60-65 points for Doyler.. but I wont be shocked if he surpasses those totals either

Yep, if Morrison and Walker don't come back we're in for a world of hurt. I'm almost 100% Walker will come back, but Morrison.... who knows?
I don't expect Morrison to put us over the top or make us contender or anything by himself, but I think we'd be missing out on the best individual season by a Rocket ever if he doesn't, and that would disappoint me a lot. I think Lali's records would be in joepardy if he came back.

I agree.. Morrison if he returns will likely surpass Lali's point totals quite easily.. tho I doubt he scores 50 plus goals.. however if he and Walker both return I could see Geoff taking a serious run at Lali's goal record

I am a huge fan of Doyle and love that he brings a great all around game and is not just about scoring goals. Having said that let's not build the expectations too high on this 17 yr old sophmore even if he does look like a future star. This season I see Doyle building off of a great rookie season developing into a very capable 2nd line centre for us potentially in the 30 goal / 60 pts range and the sky's the limit for him at 18 & 19.
As for Morrison I don't even want to think about the possibility of him not returning this season although it is certainly very possible although we will just have to wait until AHL camps wind down. But for now assuming Morrison does return I see him likely being in the 40 goal / 100 pt range and the best thing about Morrison is that he also contributes a lot more than just points.
What he means to this team this season is a lot like what Laliberte meant to this team last season. Not only the top offensive player but a leader and one of the top allaround forwards in the league. Not having him on the team this season would be a HUGE blow just like it would have been if we didn't have Laliberte last season.

My official Doyler goal prediction: 33. I totally agree that barring injury he's a shoo-in for 30 this year, but decided to call Score on the 35 prediction (even though I agree that it could happen)............ if anything for the sake of giving him a chance to win his beer back from last year.
