How come Monast got a major and was allowed to come out and assist on a goal like 3 mins into it in the second?
Or was it a typical error on the Q site? ;D

I was impressed with Schmidt the last 2 games and it wil be interesting to see if he can keep it up in the regular season, so far he has been solid for the Rocket.
I thought that Gelinas played well tonight and hopefully he will be given a chance to see if he can play in this league or not. Since Mosher has been here, I don't think he has shown a whole lot. I'm not saying that he can't do it or won't do it, but so far I don't think he has been all that impressive. Time will tell.
Someone who I thought has played well so far is Walker. What is impressing me about him is how he is carrying the play, going after the puck more and making plays happen instead of waiting for them to happen.

Has Mosher actually played?? lol Gelinas is just a depth fill in...he had a good game apparently but Mosher still has more upside.

Yeah he has played in pre-season and he played games last season too. A player can have all the upside he wants, but it doesn't necessarily mean that he will show it and so far IMO he hasn't shown it.

He played 169 mins last year...its not fair to the kid, especially considering Gelinas has played 1 game as a rocket.

It's just an opinion and I never said that Gelinas was better than Mosher and never said that he should be kept instead of Mosher. All I said was that I hoped that Gelinas gets a chance to see whether or not he can play in this league because he looked good tonight, next game he could very well struggle also. I know it's only one game and I know that one game doesn't make a player. In regards to Mosher all I said was that he didn't play well when he did play, I'm not going to come out and say he played great when he didn't. I hope he gets his chance to show his upside also.

Rocket loses to Mooseheads in shootout The Guardian
Geoff Walker tied the game for the P.E.I. Rocket with nine seconds remaining in regulation.
But it was Jakub Voracek’s goal in the shootout that gave the Halifax Mooseheads a 4-3 win over the Rocket in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League pre-season action Thursday night at the Civic Centre.
Goalie Marc-Antoine Gélinas said the loss didn’t dim his first action with the Rocket since being traded from Val’d’Or on Monday.
“I played very good. I didn’t think I would be on my game,” said Gélinas, who was named the game’s first star with 42 saves.
Goalies Alexandre Clermont and rookie Jon Waye were cut earlier in Rocket camp, and with Antoine Lafleur as the starter, the trade sets up a battle for backup between Evan Mosher and Gélinas.
Two games remain on the Rocket’s pre-season schedule so both will get their shot.
Gélinas, an 18-year-old St-Etienne-de-Lauzon, Que., native asked for a trade because, he said, he didn’t fit in the Foreurs plans.
A rugged first period revealed the bad blood between the squads after last week’s pre-season game in Halifax where a third-period open-ice hit by Mooseheads’ Ben MacAskill on P.E.I.’s Brett Morrison started a brawl that saw eight major and four game misconduct penalties levied.
Thursday, three fights in first five minutes got the teams going before the game settled down as P.E.I.’s Kris Schmidt and Halifax’s Justin Pender exchanged goals.
In the second, Voracek and Peter-James Corsi gave Halifax a 3-1 lead before P.E.I. winger Martin Latal cut the margin to 3-2 with 30 seconds left in the period.
Schmidt was the only Rocket to score in the shootout.
The Herd returns seven 19-year-olds from last year.
Throw in Montrose’s Colby Pridham, Winsloe’s Logan MacMillan (neither played Thursday) and Voracek, last year’s impressive rookie, and this could be one of the East Division’s top teams.
However, goaltending will be the key.
Mark Yetman, Thursday’s starter, and Roger Kennedy are fighting for number one, but Yetman said it’s all part of the territory.
“We’ve been battling now for three years since I’ve been here and back in midget, too,” said Yetman.
“It’s kind of a love-hate thing. We want to push each other, but we want to push each other out.”
P.E.I. was outshot 45-36 overall and went 0-for-8 on the power play while Halifax was 1-for-9.

excellent game to watch tonight. it was as if it was a league game and really meant something. even the small crowd was into at times.
wow it looks like we have two strong goalies this year, the first time that i can remember that we have had a backup that we can depend on if needed. very solid imo.
another super part of the game was cliche out for the first period, lol. ok, ok enough of that....
overall very please with what we saw. i am told halifax is the team to beat this year...is that true?

With the lineup they have they should have a good team this year, but it would be a boost for them if they can get an upgrade on their goaltending

Gelinas will likely get a shot to show his worth for the first couple of weeks of the season when Lafleur is away to NYC. I would guess that Jean plans to play both himself and Mosher an equal number of games while Tony is away (unless one of them get's hot of course.) Then they'll make a decision as to who the backup will be. I still think Mosher will be #2.
