He didn't really look out of place. Will be interesting to see what Tampa does with him when they have a full lineup. Didn't really look out of place? I would say he looked like he really belonged with almost 20 minutes in ice time, a nice pass to get the ball rolling on the tying goal and almost won it if not for a great save by Ramo in OT. He was playing 1st line minutes on his 4th game in 5 days.

Question becomes is he better than some of those injured players. Once they are back he may go down a line or 2.

You have to have the skills to know what to do with the puck as far as "being set up playing with elite players". Drouin and Stamkos work well together as they both are fast skaters and can get to the net faster than the others and with their puck passing skills, usually results in a goal or on net. He certainly did not look out of place. He was exciting to watch every time he came out on the ice.

TB won 7-3 last night and Drouin only played 11 minutes They had moved him to the 3rd/4th line and had no power play time. Odd decision given the huge role they gave him up to this point. Obviously the last game vs, Minnesota wasn't a good one but they are playing great too. I don't disagree that they need to bring him in a bit slower than they had been considering he had no training camp etc, but that's a huge dropoff from top line and top PP, to 11 ES minutes.

Killorn returning bumped him down the lineup I guess
I'm sure he'll get his share of PP time.....

Reading the coaches comments, its basically that they never intended to give him 22 minutes of top line ice right off the bat, but injuries sort of gave him that chance. They plan on playing him much less for now, to learn the pro game. I'm sure it won't take long before we start seeing him get PP time and some more scoring roles again.

What the Drouin game count at this point? 5 Games played - www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8477494 He isn't going to be sent back, if that's what you're hinting at. Absolutely NOTHING left to prove in Jr.

barely getting 10 minutes a night... going to be hard to win Rookie of the year if he is buried on the 4th line with virtually no PP time
hey it worked for Mackinnon when i called him out.. maybe this will work for Drouin too

Absolutely NOTHING left to prove in Jr. You hear that said all the time but its not, nothing to prove in junior, its what he PROVES in the NHL, just like last year. Same for every player.

I take that "nothing to prove" comment with a grain of salt. It sounds like a player can't be sent back to Junior because he's talented. If he's proved to be elite at the Junior level but isn't progressing or producing or suited to a new role (like 4th line) then he has to play somewhere and if he's 19 then it's either Jr or NHL (in Droiun's case). Nothing to prove in Jr but sometimes there is nowhere else to play.
