I've been vocal for two years about being contenders.. we have had (mostly) great overagers and yet we've still followed this wait and see approach that simply doesn't work
and to answer your question i said already I would have wanted a veteran presence on the backend... Jason Swit however was not what I would have wanted
I thought we could have added Suchy when it was announced he wasn't coming back and then deal for a proven 20 year old sniper to round out our offense
Obviously i'm just an armchair GM like the rest of us but I see time slipping away for this franchise to take the next step

I thought we could have added Suchy when it was announced he wasn't coming back and then deal for a proven 20 year old sniper to round out our offense Like most Euros Suchy came to the Q to get drafted into the NHL and didn't so he had no interest in returning to the Q this season. Besides he would have cost us Kana and that would have been a huge loss. I have always been a Prokopetz fan and would have liked to add him instead. Although I heard that even the Rocket's offer to add a draft pick (don't know how high) wasn't enough as CB wasn't interested in moving him. IMO the last 2 yrs despite having great overagers this team didn't have the depth to contend. This year is different but moves can still be made at Christmas.

I disagree on the depth issue but that's ok
I realize adding Suchy would have cost us Kana.. but again at the time we didn't know who Kana was and really we still don't know what he's going to bring us.. let's not forget Cmorej looked good in camp last year as well and we all know how he fared out
and yes Prokopetz would have been better than Swit for sure and yes moves can still be made.. but will they is the million dollar question
anyways no sense arguing.. we have different views but we're both hardcore rocket fans who want the same thing

SJ just released Knox and Charland.
If the price tag on Knox was not so high from S'Side, would he be a player to look at all?
He has skill, but really didn't show much in SJ for whatever reasons. He's smaller then I thought, but would he be an option at all?
One thing, he would draw more fans.....if he could get his game going.

Knox is too small for the Q, in my opinion. He's an excellent skater and has really good hockey sense, but his lack of size is a lot bigger of an obstacle at this level then at Jr. A.
Perhaps if he'd played in the Q since he was 17 he might have been able to adapt to the speed and skill level, but it's too much to ask to just throw a guy into the fire like that.
So basically what I'm trying to say is that I don't think there's really a point in dropping Swit for Knox. I think either way we should be trying to upgrade that 20 spot come Christmas time. That's just my opinion though.

99, I don't know why my name should have been mentioned in your post, but I also know a couple of things:
Chamberland was acquired by the Titan for a switch of first round picks with Victo which improved our draft position plus a 3rd round pick 2007.
The Rocket sent Haddad to CB for Swit....
Who would I prefer, a 19 YO Chamberland or a 2o YO Swit? I would go for the first any day of the week and he could end up playing 2 years in Bathurst.
Savard has very seldom done good trades.

Put a few more asses in the seats for Savard and add much needed element to the team. Have to get him before SJ does. They don't need him, they have a tough enough squad.
