I heard RKI tricked him and said the chef was giving them a meal on the house, but RKI paid for the meal thus nullifying his NCAA aspirations.

Here is the D-group as I know it... Malatesta-Sweeney Holwell-Johnston -Klabansky
If no McInnis, then how are we better?

A year older, more experienced, better chemistry, growth and development through training, etc. I know they are not the most impressive D corps on paper, but who knows they may surprise and thrive inside a good system. We haven't seen them in action yet I have high hopes for this D corps and this team an I personally think they will surprise this year

Good group, hard working but if Moncton wants to challenge they will need a #1 puck moving D-man, Sweeney keeps getting better and Johnston also, will have to see Matatesta before judging his abilities. Not sure who is available for a fair price ? an overage player would probably come cheaper (better option ) Also depth on the backend if injuries occur could be a concern.
Moncton will also need a 2nd line centre (with Simpson gone) , was impressed with Smith's speed and hockey sense at the end of the season, but Moncton will need a good grinder (with some size and speed )to line up with Lalonde and Garland.
Moncton's bottom 6 forwards look good with lots of hard working strong skaters, but besides Smith not sure will be able to move up to the top 6 forwards. I'm wondering who will play along side Barbashev and Tkachev ? it has to be someone that has speed and physical (Barbashev will be targeted this year big time ) can't have him out hurt or fighting !
Dubeau if he plays like he did last year should be one of the best in the league, but will need to have a good backup to give him a rest so that he's 100 percent for the playoffs.
If I was the Moncton GM , I would pick up a strong puck moving defenseman right now and fill in the gaps as the trade deadline approaches. The Team had great chemistry last year and I wouldn't mess with that too much.

He is the #2 centre playing with Lalonde and Garland. 2) Rioux played well with the games he had. I don't think there worried about the back up roll. They also have Dupré which I believe will challenge Rioux for the back up roll this year. 3) I do like the idea of getting a good 20 year old d man (Talbot-Tassi) but I think they need to use that last 20 year old spot for a forward to play with Barbashev and Tkachev.

The answer to a top pairing offensive defenceman is Anthony Cortese.

So camp starts in about 3 weeks and only about 4-5 free agents are listed on the Q site, very strange. Not only that but a pile of players from their protected list probably won't be at camp...Haas Zerter Vatrano Murphy Gendron Matheson Fiorentino McInnis Krys and McLeod.
Even in years with a set roster they brought in 10-12 FA's.

What I find the strangest thing is that they have yet to announce what is going on with the other 20 spot yet. I thought they would at least bring someone in but I guess they may wait to see how things shake out and who is available.

I had heard they were looking at a top 1994 kid from the CJHL in Ontario but nothing has been announced, that was about a month ago or more... You have room for FA's, with a big budget may as well bring a few in...

Tucker White traded to Bathurst.
What would be the price of a guy like Danick Martel?

Tucker White traded to Bathurst. What would be the price of a guy like Danick Martel? Apparently traded as part of the Simpson trade according to L'Acadie nouvelle. I'm assuming that just makes him part of the trade (2 2nds, Simpson and now White) for the first round pick which was traded for Askew. Is there something I'm missing, why wasn't he just traded in June when the trade was made originally?

Maybe one of those picks is coming back our way.
