FRom the Herald article...
Svechnikov is friends with current Screaming Eagles forward Maxim Lazarev. They played their minor hockey together and the relationship was a huge help in Svechnikov's recruitment.
Dumont has certainly received a lot of praise for his work with our franchise and rightfully so.
The results from his handling of last years Euro draft has been his best move. What a turnaround after the Veliky fiasco.

If Dumont can add another veteran D and stabilize the goaltending this team can do some damage in 14-15 and return almost the entire team for 15-16. Austyn Hardie is likely available or Halifax. Halifax still has to move one overager. He's a rock solid, stay at home guy. Physical, quality leader. Captain potential. Brings a ton of experience. Practices hard, plays hard kind of guy. Halifax needs some picks, and CB has lots of them and the overage spot. Gets the Eagles competitive this year, and even though he wouldn't play next year would leave behind some things the returning players can take away from, ala Critchlow for Halifax in 2012. Certainly sounds intriguing and wouldn't rule it out. I do believe we should move some of our picks before the draft. This would not be at the top of my wish list....but depending on what is available and at what cost this would be in the realm of possibilities

Awesome news! Something great happening with our Euro spots (yes, both of them) for first time in a long time. Very promising - can we say the organization has turned the corner from recent bad memories?

Very smart use of the Euro draft by Dumont, picking up Svechnikov knowing he wouldn't report and obviously using Lazarev's friendship with him to help sway his decision.

Great news but.....will see at the next training camp. when he will jump on the ice a lot of history with Euro players.... lol this isn't some Slovakian who never played in a serious league & recently had a huge growth spurt and never adapted to his body. This is a man-sized KHL prospect that has proven himself in the top Russian junior leagues, the top division of IIHF events (U18s), and even has first round NHL talent. Having his childhood teammate there will only make the transition easier.

Great news but.....will see at the next training camp. when he will jump on the ice a lot of history with Euro players.... You realize this guy is rated #22 in the NHL rankings right? He's going to be your best forward. Edit- searching for source.. now I can't remember where I saw it. doubting self lol. Regardless, as the previous post said, this isn't just some guy. He's a first round talent.
