Good for him. He was very exciting to watch and had a great season. Denmark probably could've used him at the world hockey championships.

Not surprising at all, but grats regardless. Wasn't expecting quite that talent level when we originally brought him over.

That's actually the CHL award for Rookie of the year, not the QMJHL one. The Q had their awards back in April, and Ehlers won that one too.

Great job Ehlers. Someone is going to scoop him up very fast in the upcoming draft.

Is he the first Moosehead player to be named ROY? Yes. Kind of shocking when you consider Voracek, Mackinnon and Fucale all missed out.

Kind of shocking when you consider Voracek, Mackinnon and Fucale all missed out. I was thinking much the same thing, and also added LeClaire, Tanguay and ...? to the list.

I don't know much about the Q previous to like.. 2005. I know Tanguay and Leclaire were good, but there were other good players as well. Vrana had a good season in 2003 as a rookie... too bad that Crosby dude was a rookie also.

It's quite tough to win CHL rookie of the year. I know he isn't the first Moosehead to win QMJHL rookie of the year, as I believe Nagy won it did he not? I thought the league changed rookie eligibles to 18 years of age or younger when 19yo Nagy won it. Even with the great players we've had, looking at this list of names, it's not unbelievable that we haven't had a CHL rookie of the year yet. We're the first Maritime based team to get one. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHL_Rookie_of_the_Year
