Just got back from C200. Jacob Smith who played for the Truro Bearcats must of been a late invite because he was taking part in everything. His stats are good but he didn't really catch my eye. www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=125034So the player that impressed me the most was Max Lazarev. Boy did he ever do good! Players that really impressed me: Colby Muise, Max Lazarev, C-E Legare, Colby Tower, Jeremie Beaudin Players that impressed me: Dubois, Brunelle Farrell,Deschamps (He smashed the glass at the end with his wrister), Brassard, Boucher, Leveille Player that didn't impress me: Corbeil (It's probably just the nerves because it's the 1st day), Macdonald, Beaudry, Lyle, Miron, Baillargeon, Millman. Muise definitely surprised me, he is really good with his glove and has great vision. He has what it takes to be our backup this year but Dumont might want him to develop more in midget or Jr A. Tower looks like a lock to make the team. He has tremendous speed and passing. Beaudin reminds me of Lalonde last year. Didn't expect much from him but shined at camp. Beaudin could be our 6th guy on D. Of note: former eagles Sheppard, Culligan, Haddad, Shaw were practicing with team white.

Attended training camp today, new Russian kid not on the ice(equipmenr issues?) Also no Mason Gray, not on the ice nor on the list? Goaltending looks like an issue, behind Brassard and Iknow its early in the piece, but Nick Walsh looked like the best of the rest today. Colby Tower looks like he bulked up some, impressed with several of the 16 years old,L Italien and Caza impressec with their skaring and Beaudoin looked good on defence. Eagles alumni Haddad, Culligan, Shaw and Sheppard out for a workout today.Good to see them.

Also hearing around the rink today that the 16 year old goaltender Muise is only staying around for 48 hrs so he can keep his options open.Goaltending sure looks like an area that might need to be addressed.

WOW NICE CALL shows me you don't know much about being a goalie, well it's all good everyone has an opinion but if you have never played the position you can not appreciate what happens out there. I am sorry if I gave you the impression that I knew much about being a goalie. That for sure was not my intention. I know you get a little sensitive about goalie talk, and if there is a connection to you and one of the goalies from last year there is no disrespect intended. All i am saying is that in a result driven sport in this type of league a goalie needs to stop pucks. I have no doubt that there is a lot happening out there. Goalies get blamed much to easily and get much praise as well. i wish both Fortin and Bureau much success this year wherever they end up. Confidence in your goalie is key for a coach or a teammate just as a goalie knowing that his coach and teammates have confidence in him is huge. I think one of those things was missing last year or a combination. I hope they have solved that this year with their change in nets. No no issues it's the way you point out things that get's me. I have tried to point out last year that there are 5 other player's out there during a game and if you take a look at the game tapes, we had a lot of give aways and turnover's that would make any goalie hair stand up on his neck and even if we had Fucale in the net it would not have made a big difference on given night's and like you mention goalie's do get blamed way to much for bad defensive play all I,m getting at is I will be there for Brassard this year as well to point thing's out. Trust me with the game tapes I looked at and the mistakes we made as a team, not saying our goalies made mistakes sure everyone is human all I'm saying is we have gone through a hell of a lot of goalers lately Trudeau, Lagace, Bureau, Fortin and the young lad who took off to the OHL last year and he had some good games and then bang gone. Trudeau leaves and play's one season in Val D'or and then Ottawa last year and signs a AHL contract with the Islander's but he was not that great to listen people talk Bureau up and down the young lad who went to the OHL and Fortin in my opinion were not truly given that much of an opportunity. What I'm truly getting at is there are forwards and defence and a goalie, if you get bombarded over and over and give up as many goals as we did but score goals as many as we did last year what 1st or 2nd in the league for goals for but give up as much as we did. I would maybe look at the system on the ice we had some young defence sure, we had young forwards as well but hell we were very offensive on certain nights but our defensive play was not tight in our end damm it does not take a hockey genius to figure that out, again have a look at the game tapes and analyze them you will see what I'm getting at. As for the rest well here is to a solid 2014/15 season and yes I will be there for Brassard and whoever the backup is

Just heard something about that now. Do you think it's because of all the goalie issues we had the past few years? Now we are in a real slump with our goaltending for next year.

Do not know much about Muise but if a player stays later then 48 hours then they are no longer eligible to play NCAA. That is likely the deal although I am not sure how good he is.
The other possibility is that he simply wanted to see a bit of the camp to feel everything out but has no intention of playing in the Q this year.

Attended all sessions yesterday and though the first day is only a small sampling here are my early impressions. All returnees come in as expected, really impressed with Brunelle with his skating and shooting, also Lalonde again very impressive. Of the new draftees, Iam v ery impressed with Dubois, LItalien, Caza, Corbeil and Beaudoin, will be interesting to see which of these stick. EARLY ASSESSMENT; Brassard is obviously the go to guy and looks very comfortable in the net, after that, ?.Really need to address the backup goaltending issue. On defence,Ithink the top five will be Deschamps, Leveille, Bell, Llonde and Nosella, of the rest, Corbeil, Beaudoin and Paul look good, Baillergon and Dower need to step it up if they hope to crack the kineup.Up front there is a glut of talent, most returning players look good, Dubois, LItalien, Caza, Proulx and the 19 year okd free agent Smith ollked good, sort of disappointed in Boucher so far. Colby Tower looked good as well. NEEDS; A backup goaltender and possibly a top 4 veteran defenceman to add to a young but good defensive group. Should have four pretty solid forward lines. Still puzzled about Mason Gray not being in camp.

Got out to see the Team Black and White practices tonight. I was surprised by Phelix Martineau. Very fast skater. I also liked Colby Muise. It's going to be an exciting season to watch the Eagles!

Went to the defense and forward practice today. Hache was there which really surprised me. I can't see how beaudin can't make the team. I was really impressed with him. Muise was there so I guess the rumours we heard aren't true. Martineau has tremendous speed and could make the team. I'm not really impressed with Corbeil. I think he should have 1 more year of AAA then he should make the team next year.

Also impressed with young Beaudoin on defence and Martineau up front. Still no sign of Mason Gray, Clark Bishop there but not on the ice, young draftee Alex McDonald not on the updated list nor on the ice. Not much info coming from the coaching staff as far as players being released or players leaving camp, Pascal Vincent used to provide a daily update on these issues. So far none of the 4 goalies behind Brassard have stepped up to grab the backup spot.Hear they are taking 3 goalies to Russia?
