Per the score sheet, it looks like all hell broke loose late in the second period. What happened? Cobham hit one of their guys high and Brunelle jumped him. Tibbo jumped in and got tossed. Malatesta dropped the gloves with Gray and got pounded. Tibbo gets tossed and then, for whatever reason, comes back out for the third period, gets called for a slashing penalty and the refs/scorekeeper are like wait a minute, this guy was kicked out of the game already. They give Tibbo his 2 for slashing and an additional 2 for being an illegal player and toss him again. Cape Breton gets a 4min PP. Never seen that before.

You'd have to think that Coach Rumble will be disciplined or fined for putting Tibbo back on the ice after receiving a game misconduct. Tibbo did grab Jay Doiron's arm when he was trying to get a shot in on Brunelle. I can't imagine Tibbo not getting a 2-3 game suspension for grabbing the linesman while the linesman was breaking up a fight.
Ironic that it was Jay Doiron that Jonathan Huberdeau fell over (some say pushed down) during a fight in his final game as a Sea Dog. I can't recall what that suspension ended up being.

As the wildcat player is about to hit the CB defenceman slips and starts to go down. Of cours Cobham finishes his check as he was already into it so he can'T help but hit him high. I saw the hit live and wanted to reconfirm what I thought by checking the replay. After watching it I stand by my comment. No penalty. If the CB player stays on his feet it is just a good thunderous check.

Kyle Tibbo's penalty has been changed too - 2 - MON Kyle Tibbo, 18:53 - Third men in, who is the first to intervene in an altercation - Game Misconduct, (4.9)
Suspended 1 game.

The ice was poor and CB player lost an edge going around the net and was falling as Cobham hit him. It was an innocent play that should not have been a penalty and should not have ended in a shit show.

Cats did it again just like in the playoffs. They showed no intensity outside of the first 5:00 of the 1st and the last 10:00 of the 3rd. You aren't going to beat many teams playong that way.
I said it last year and I'll say it again ... Lalonde is not a good captain. He doesn't play with any intensity ... more of a coaster waiting for an opportunity. He needed to go out and stir things up last night and just didn't bother. Frustrating to watch him.

On the plus side,I heard that there are a dozen industrial strength air cleaners on their way to Moncton to clear the stink emanating from the Coliseum from last night's game.

Disappointed in the leadership overall at last night's game.No intensity or excitement during the introductions....players coasted out of the Cat and meandered out to the blueline.N-O-B-O-D-Y was pumped and nobody was pumping each other up. ZERO intensity to start the game.ZERO response to lackadaisacal efforts. That effort deerved a bag skate for sure. Never seen my cousin so upset after a game...as he said,he's got better things to do with his time and his money rather than waste it on a zero effort night like last night.

Weird they scratched Cormier and dressed an AF player. Cats defense looked brutal tonight, no other way to put it. Not suere what Malatesta was thinking dropping the gloves with Gray, he's lucky not to be eating through a straw.. As I said all along since training camp... The D has not been upgraded to be more shutdown. Malatesta is an offensive upgrade only (not a tough guy) and it will be a long season..

AF was one of the better players on the ice. How's that for team management ?

I think you'll see a trade sooner then later, just a hunch purely speculation.
Looks like maybe no suspensions for tmrw but i thought Tibbo would for sure get 1 game for 3rd man in.
We'll see!!

AF was one of the better players on the ice. How's that for team management ? I didn't think so ... he worked hard in his icetime but was fairly ineffective. To me ... even though he made mistakes ... Sweeney was the best. He must have logged 35 mins ... always battling along the boards ... but didn't get much support. He couldn't do it all himself ... but I was most pleased with his effort.

I expected more from a veteran D. And just saying the top forwards weren't really performing- saw more intensity in other players- will be I interesting to see how they come back this Sunday.

As disappointing as that was I've learned over the years not to read too much into the first game.
For whatever it's worth I thought Will Smith was the best Cat last night. Would have been a different game if everyone had worked as hard as him. Interested to see him with the Russians when they get back.
