"Charlottetown mayor wants to meet with team officials"
shoot me now please.
What is the great Mayor Lee going to suggest? Perhaps the grand city of Charlottetown will kick Savard some "please stay here" money and demand that Mitch Tweel take over the coaching duties for all home games.
anything that the city touches seems to turn to shit. there is a good duo... Lee and Savard.. painting the town dumb.
win a f*cking hockey game and people will buy some tickets. excuse my french (can i say that?? hehe..)
go abbies go.....

Good stuff KDR,
And while others may put this issue to rest, people have been known to say one thing in the media and do another thing.
Kinda like those comments teams make... "We are fully committed to coach XX" and the next day Coach XX is fired..

Flipper you are preaching to the choir on this one, the ppl here are the ppl that are supporting this team, that go to the games that buy the season tickets, that travel on the road to watch this team and spend their hard earned money, we sit in the stands and wonder what the hell is goin on with this team, why are they not producing like they should and why nothing is being done with the coaching when obviously its not working....There is enough talent on this team that they should not be 2-5, Jean has had his chance to prove that belongs in the head coaching position and well frankly from this fans standpoint he hasn't proven didly squat to me.
As well one might want to research all of the Guardian articles that Savard has said they want to build a team that will compete on the ice, that will go far in the playoffs, since the year we missed the playoffs......promises made...promises broken....and really no obvious plan or information given to fans to make us believe that they have plan to make things better.....Almost no words from Savard as the season has started off so sickenigly...other then to try and defuse moving rumours.
Honestly, from this fans perspective and as one who buys season tickets and spends her hard earned money on this team, i want a better committment from this team that they are actually indeed going to do something to fix this mess, not lip service....actual moves that help now but also show a long term plan for the future....i am sick of this bullshit year in and year out.....

and i hope that savard and connolly and the rest of the rocket ppl are reading this and take the comments for what they are worth...concerned and frustrated fans that just want to see things get better and we don't need to be attacked for that....

I find it difficult to understand...... a) why Savard can't see what's obvious (it is obvious, isn't it?), and do something about it, b) why I continue to go watch a good team, with no real system in place, struggle night after night. I must be either really stupid and gullible, or a real hardcore fan. There's not much I can do about a) (or is there?), but there is something I can do about b). I'm seriously considering taking my tickets for Fridays game, walking up to Savard, and ripping them in half in front of him. As much as I'd like to see the antics of Patrick Roy, I'm more interested in getting some kind of message across to Rocket management that I'm not happy with the direction they are taking in regards to this team. Savard may already have my money for my season tickets, but I'll bet that another two empty seats won't look very good. It seems this is the only thing Savard understands. Call me a whiner....call me an idiot....call me whatever you want. But, I've finally decided that I have much better things to do than leave the Civic Centre yet again, feeling frustrated and angry. I can get that at home! Enough is enough!

I don't think you're an idiot or a whiner, just someone who is frustrated and you are not the only one. Judging by the posts on here I would say there are a few people that are frustrated and pissed off as well, me included. So far this year with season tickets for myself and game tickets for my wife and kids I have shelled out over $500 to watch this team play the way they are. Next season I am thinking of putting that $500 elsewhere. Whether it's shelling out $500 or paying $15 for a ticket I want to see good hockey and right now that isn't happening and really hasn't happened alot of times in the past. For that same $500 I can get season tickets to the Abbies for not only myself but my kids also and still have moneyleft over to get season passes for the Panthers. I know the skill level of some of the players in those leagues are not the same as the Q but as long as I can enjoy watching the game, so what. For me, the team has until the end of the season to change my mind for next year but if things remain the same for the rest of this season then I am going to be looking at other options for next season. From talking to other people that go to the games, I'm not the only one looking it that way either. If someone says that we need to support the team at a time like this, like someone already did, well I have been supporting the team for years. When is the team going to show their appreciation back by treating their fans to a winning team because that's what it's going to take to put asses back in the seats and keep them there.

Don't sell the Panthers short....CIS hockey IS a step above major junior, some just can't wrap their heads around that. Take a Q-team and CIS team and allow the CIS team to play by major junior rules again and lookout. University players are men...major junior for the most part are still kids.
Panthers look to have added some scoring punch this year to go with a solid defence and a 1-2 punch in nets with Paul Drew and Dayne Davies.
Abbies are in third and look to be very entertaining this year.

How to fill a rink? Give free tickets to kids who have to take a parent with them. The kids will buy fries and pizza and the parent can have a beer. Everybody is happy. Friday should be a guarenteed win night. No win, next game is free by showing Fridays ticket stub. For us season ticket holders !!! we were going to the game regardless.

People are losing interest and I don't blame them. I was at the Abbies last game and even though they got hammered on the score board, it was a good game to watch. There was good, clean hitting, good effort by all players, action both ends of the ice, etc. When leaving the rink after that game I was wondering when the next game was because I was interested in seeing it. Right now after leaving a Rocket game, people don't have that same interest and alot of them are season ticket holders, imagine how the walk-up fans are thinking/feeling. quote] I don't see how Savard is complaining when he says that he wants to stay in Carlottetown and wants to meet the City to get a deal comparable to other Q teams....this will have to be negociated by the City of Charlottetown, that they like it or not.... Also, how about the caliber of Q hockey compared to junior A? That alone is worth to pay more for a Q game even if your team is not playing better...... Junior A will never be sufficient for a rink like CCC.... Now imagine a $30M complex in a small CIty like Summerside!

Didn't the PEI Rocket just sign a new deal in the summer 2006 with the City of Charlottetown?
Why would Serge now want a new deal?
If I was the city I would tell Serge and his cronies that they will get nothing until they produce a competitive and winning team!
