First home opener in a long time with promise and excitement for the season.
2 big wins last weekend to open the year has everyone around a little more interested this weekend too I think.
Both teams are missing some guys to pro camps. Bishop, MacIntyre and Brassard for us and Cooper, MacKinnon, Dipaolo, Johnston and MacDonald for them.
This is the first ever home game for exciting new Euro Evgeni Svechnikov after a 5 point opening weekend. He may be our most purely skilled and talented forward since James Sheppard. And it sounds like he can't wait to get on C200 ice more then anyone tonight.
Prediction: 6-4 Eagles.

There does seem to be a real buzz around this home opener for sure. I was certainly more excited last year than I had been the previous few years but this one is up a few notches, no doubt about it. You add in local hockey star Mitchell Balmas being on the Islanders and there should be an interesting atmosphere in the rink tonight.
As for Svechnikov, he might end up being worth the price of admission on his own. I cannot see how this kid will not be the jewel of Cape Breton by the end of the season, should he stay healthy. Supremely talented player with a major competitive streak who also is a very personable fellow. He is no stereotypical dour Russian!
I am not into predictions of score but I would be surprised if there isn't a lot of goals tonight.

Thats one of the first things I noticed about Svechnikov, not the "typical russian" he'll slide down on the ice to block slap shots from the point, take hits, play a bit on the edge and to top it all off hes get such massive skill with the puck. I think there's gonna be quite a few goals tonight as well, hopefully for us.

While Svechnikov seems to be no question the "real deal", i watched the two games on line and Dubois may be a James Sheppard type of player. I saw him break in and beat an Acadie D man like a rented mule he just looked dominant. I am really looking forward to this year and this team.

Just left C200 and they are expecting 4 + tonight . That's a very huge walk up with Season Tickets hovering at 1850 . The buzz over there is all about Svechikov , no doubt about that . While I would be thrilled with a crowd that size , I believe it will take a while . A winning club I believe will result in consistent crowds in the 32-34 range , especially the Friday and Sunday games . As far as tonight goes , with both #1 Goalies gone , I think Johnny may be right and I think we will see our fill of goals tonight . I will take the Good Guys 5-4 and what the hell , a little O.T to really get this new version of Eagles entertainment off to a memorable start .

The ticket website will give you a judge of what to expect. Should easily hit 4k with walk ups. Lower bowl is almost full.

Should be a great game tonight. Glad to see the attendance is going to be good. Unfortunately I could not make tonight. Will try and watch some online tonight. Hoping for some recaps from you guys that are there tonight.

This cameraman is making me wish I was in the rink. He's on the roof and can't even follow the play. You had 1 job!
I wonder if CB can contact whoever helped Carrier work on his skating. If they can hook P-L Dubois up with that coach, he'll be a scary weapon for CB next season.

Came out flat for the first 2 periods, tried to be too fancy on the powerplay, would say those are main reasons we lost that one.
Farrell is just dominating right now, 3 points and +3 on the night.
Sullivan made some big saves but gonna need better then a sub .800 SV percentage to win the game.
Also our 3rd and 4th lines are being brutalized right now, will really help when Bishop is back.

Exciting game tonight,5-4 win for the visitors. Nice crowd, around 4500, most likely to see the Russian rookie.Thought the Eagles did nothing the first 45 minutes;but give some credit to the visitors, they played an excellent road game up to that point.Exciting finish, if these two temas are projected to be at or near the top f the division this year, should make for some interesting matchups. Looking forward to another close game tomorrow night.

Not saying we would have won but Sullivan cost us OT. Sorry to be harsh but he is not a Q caliber goalie

Sullivan kept the eagles on it for sure. He had some great saves out there. Deschamps has a really good defensive game and took care of Sprong except for bis goal. Lazarev with Svechnikov is like a Crosby with Malkin. When there togethor they can be deadly and when there apart they can be deadly. Its tough to come back then get scored on in the last few minutes. Not to mention we are missing Bishop, Brassard and Macintyre. Great crowd and I heard there were still people lined up outside to tickets when the 1st period was almost over.
