Was talking to a few people today and heard a rumor that may and may not be true but the rumor is that Jacques Lapierre is coming to coach the rocket. But thats just word on the street. Anyone know if this has any truth?

Junior, my son, I think you mean Jacques Laperrière.
No relation to Maxim.
I don't put any faith in rumors any more.
Jean was supposed to be gone today, according to backofthewetbus.
But the way, where IS backofthewetbus?

At the back of some flooded bus, from what I hear.
...just a rumor though.

Hey now dogpound as bus said give it some time. During the season like this Savard likely isn't going to fire Jean until he has made some contacts with potential candidates.
And I'm very hopeful that the wheels are in motion for a change. Let's just hope we don't get screwed like Apu did in Seinfeld.

Don't forget that Apu was Lisa Simpson's hockey coach..."Ead's up, leettle guurl!"..."Keep up the chatter, Millhouse"
Tough but fair coach, if I remember right

No one likes to lose, and when the going gets tough, that is the time to rally around and show support, not denigrate every effort that is being made to correct the problem. What are the facts in regards to where you said that every effort is being made to correct the problem? People have since asked or wondered what efforts are being made without an answer or facts about those efforts.

Lets hope Serge takes his time and brings in a quality coach this time. Last time he just took who ever could be on a plane in half an hour....

... the trigger will be pulled. Given Savard's comment that he does not plan to make a coaching change I would not be confident that the trigger would be pulled. If a change were in the cards and work was going on behind the scenes I'd expect he would keep it quiet and give an ambiguous response to any inquiry about coaching changes and deflect the conversation to something positive such as Player potential this season. When he says he has "no plans" it sure sounds like no change is in the cards.

He's obviously going to deny it if he's asked directly about it. If he makes a decision to fire Jean, he'll want to do it on his own terms. GMs, coaches, politicians, these kinds of people make out right lying denials all the time.

Ambiguous response? ...Give some examples. . You want examples of ambiguous responses? OK, here goes: "We're looking at all our options" "I can't answer, that's a hypothetical question" (Jean Chrétien's favorite) "It's early in the season, we're assessing the situation" "We're taking it one game at a time" "What we're really concerned with is winning on Friday night" None of those non-answers addresses the coaching situation, so they'd be ambiguous responses, not to mention useless. But McDuck wasn't ambiguous - he said he had NO PLANS to change the coach. I see no reason not to believe him. Not happy about it, though.....
