I thought I had heard somewhere Geoff didn't get along with the head coach in Gat. Could just be talking out my ass...

I do believe that rumor is true.... the Gat coach is VERY tough and expects alot from his team. No room for slackers there.....Geoff tended to be a little on the lazy side..nice to see that he has picked up the pace since being traded to the Rocket.

And that's the reason Groulx will probably never be a succesfull coach in the NHL. Juniors, excellent, but NHL, there's a whole new level.
He's known to not accept any kind of lazyness, but once you get to the NHL, you are going to have to adapt to the players that are given to you to get 100% out of them. It's not like in the juniors where you tell the players at training camp that they better play like you want them to or else they go home.
Gatineau has many draft picks that have not panned out. Some were expected (Stacey for example), but others have not. Walker, a defensman now in Bathurst (forget the name), etc. Could it be Groulx is not what we all thought of him?

So you think NHL coaches accept lazyness?? lol Groulx will be a very good NHL coach someday....

What I'm saying is that if you have a type of player like Kovalev, Jagr or Kovalchuk on your team, you can't simply tell them to play like you want them to and you wont be able to intimidate them like Groulx does. You have to play the cards that are dealt to you. You think Groulx would like a player demanding that he has input in roster decisions like Jagr does? Why is Tom Renney amazing so many people? Because he is able to keep Jagr as his star player without affecting team chemistry. It's as simple as this, if Groulx can learn to adapt himself to his players instead of demanding that his players adapt themselves to him, he could go a long way because he has an incredible hockey mind. But if he coaches in the NHL as he seems to be coaching in the juniors, he'll lose his dressing rather rapidly. Like Sutter demanding haircuts from his players during the World Junior Camp. Works in juniors, wont work in the NHL.

Its not like Groulx doesnt want skill but Walker showed up to camp 30 lbs overweight...you dont see that in the NHL... Youre making Groulx out to be some kind of control freak lol hes not, he just doesnt want overweight lazy players...or players that get in trouble (Graham).

Not true at all. So you think NHL coaches accept lazyness?? lol Groulx will be a very good NHL coach someday.... I agree. Groulx is a demanding coach who expects his players to give 100% and if they don't, they pay the consequences. People may or may not agree with his tactics or methods, but the man gets results, plain and simple, it's not a fluke that Gatineau has always had competitive teams. Eventually this guy will get a shot in the NHL and when he does, you can bet his teams will be competitive like Gatineau is.
