We are only the 2nd seed because we were better than everybody in our division in the regular season. A fairly weak division. As I said before ... we sold at Xmas to get here. I guess we're only the 12th seed because we're in a weak division as well. I'm not really sure what we're arguing. Point is that Moncton is the favorite to win the series regardless of league parity or who bought/sold at Christmas. We're going to play the underdog card on occasion... especially with our entire 2nd line out. It shouldn't bother people... it comes with the territory of having a successful season. Halifax fans had to deal with it for the last two seasons. Edit: This post shouldn't be misconstrued as whining. I'm very happy with what we've accomplished with the team we've had this year. If Moncton wins today, that sucks. But they deserved it, and that's hockey. Well if Moncton played in the east ... where do they finish ? Probably battling with Shawinigan and BC for 3/4/5 in the division. Moncton isn't stronger than many teams ... just carried by consistency ... a weak division ... two guys that can score ... and we have avoided key injuries all year. We sold at Xmas becuase this isn't our year.

As I said before ... we sold at Xmas to get here. wouldn't that make you the third seed? Nope ... points come easier in a weak division. We'd have less points playing in the west ... and less again in the east.

What have I whined about? I think you are mixing up whining with arguing... The whining coming from a few moncton posters about officiating - in a series where Moncton have hardly been called for anything - has been unreal. Everyone else seems to be watching a fairly clean series where most obvious calls are made with a few iffy (normal) calls as well. Clearly, struggling to win games against the 12th seed who lacked depth BEFORE losing their second line, and who has a defense with nothing but rookies after Hardie, has you guys on edge and grasping at this point. I haven't complained about the calls the Refs have made against Moncton. Its all of the crap they let go against Halifax is what I have been displeased with. Most of the calls made against Moncton were legit ... but Halifax is not being held to the same standard. And I have complained about the suspension assessed to Johnson ... and the lack of a suspension on Meier. So you think Moncton havent gotten away with anything...that every infraction has been called on them that should be? This series has not seen many missed calls that clearly should have been called. For every non call on a moose there is another one which could be called on Moncton. But the refs are more or less letting them play - and yet there has been constant whining about penalties and diving from your fan base, not ours, even while we have seen 1 pp in 2 separate games! If this were the moose fans last year or the year before, the out of towners would have beeen flooding our boards insulting us for complaining about the penalty breakdowns. Hell, people usually insult us if the pps are heavily against us and we are annoyed, let alone your situation where the refs have given you more benefit.

But it is about a 3:1 ratio what gets let go vs Halifax compared to Moncton. You getting one PP in a few games doesn't change anything. It is the calls against Halifax that are being let go ... those don't translate into Halifax PP time.

We sold at Xmas becuase this isn't our year. Sports does funny things to us sometimes doesn't it? We're sitting here discussing why our teams are worse than our rankings. You'd think fans would be bragging it up if their team was 2nd out of 18 teams. The reason IMO is that it's easier to stomach losing if one is under the impression that their team is worse than they are. If Halifax comes back and wins two in a row, it'd be easy to say "Well Moncton wasn't a true #2 seed so it doesn't mean as much". If Moncton fans bragged constantly about their #2 seed, and then lost in the 2nd round, it would be a much harder pill to swallow (not to mention the razzing fans would get from others on the forums... ). Obviously I'm guilty of it just by having this conversation. This is not directed at you Steve. It's a general statement for all fans. Being a sports fan is stressful. The more we can lessen the stress the better. It just makes for some pretty funny banter. "My team is worse than their record" gets said more often than "My team is better than their record".
