In pretty good shape for the draft, Chicoutimi owes us some picks, plus if we dump Bowers back in, we have 2 firsts, one at No: 9 and our own should be mid pack as well.

Bowers is going back in the draft, we are getting the #9 pick. VIA Mikaël Lalancette Great asset management. Turning a 4th overall pick that was high in demand and brought in offers that were turned down for a 9th overall pick a year later. Can't make this stuff up if you tried.

Can't make this stuff up if you tried. how about turning a 5th overall pick into a 13th (going somewhat off the board at 13) and an 18th the following year that's some asset management right there

That being the case and if we take Chicoutimi's first pick in the Ranger deal, we will pick at 9,10 and 13. Be interesting to see if the Eagles use the picks or trade one or two.

Has it been stated that Chicoutimi is giving you their 1st? Edit...found something The Screaming Eagles acquired Ranger and a third-round pick (50th overall) from the Chicoutimi Sagueneens at the QMJHL draft in June for a first-round pick (19th), a second-round pick (36th) and a third-round pick (55th). There was a clause built into the deal to provide compensation if Ranger played pro this season. Should Ranger not play in the Q this season, the Screaming Eagles will receive either a first-round pick in 2016 or 2017, or two second-round picks in 2016 from the Sagueneens. Cape Breton will activate one of those options following the season if Ranger doesn’t come back. thechronicleherald.ca/sports/1303915-cape-breton-screaming-eagles%E2%80%99-ranger-signs-pro-deal-likely-to-play-in-echl

So the option is the 9th overall pick versus two 2nds...Chicoutimi has 2nd rounders from Chi Rim Vic Gat, 27 28 30 and 33.
Either way it accelerates your rebuild...
You could have 1st 1st 1st 3rd 3rd 4th 4th...7 picks in top 4
or
1st 1st 2nd 2nd 3rd 3rd 4th 4th...8 picks in top 4 rounds.
Fiore Carozza Leblanc and Leveille could help by trade also.

Dumont will take three players who will not report and get 3 compensation picks next year and then add one every year until he can draft 20 times in a row.

CB perhaps should just use all three first rounders, trade Dubois at Christmas and use that as the cornerstones of a monster team for 2018-19 with a decent core returning the following year.

This year the draft is not that deep. Once you get past perhaps the first 3 or 4, it falls off dramatically. Always good to accumulate early picks but this year the crop is thin.

It is certainly frustrating for the loyal fan base. No feedback from the team or local media. I always felt that the Eagles could have at least received Highmore and one of the Saint John top picks for Bowers. Highmore had a decent season and a very good playoffs. Whoever picks Bowers will get a very good hockey player for the price. I have a feeling it will be Halifax, and IMO he will be better value than whoever they pick at #7. Maybe SJ will take him at 11th. I have a strong feeling that Bowers wants closer to home and part of me would hold onto his rights. I would find it hard to believe that Cape Breton did not offer Bowers at least what AB offered Morand. While Dumont has made some good deals, he certainly has as many questionable.
