I don't think you fully know what happened with the Gaborik situation. In that case what happened was they had a deal in place and worked it while having a GM they decided to fire. That Former GM went and got a job with BC and gabbed to the team about the deal. So they took him instead. I know it's only a few days till the draft but were not going to hear anything really about any typical players. With the 19th pick they are going to need to have 4 or 5 guys lined up just in case another team from another league scoops any of them up. Sort of like Jiri Tlusky situation. We had him lines up and then a team in the O took him and we took Suchy instead. If we can learn anything from the history of this teams picks around there we still end up with top line players. Yes I remember what happened, we let the guy go before the draft, wasn't his name Leblanc? He was hired by BC and they ended up taking our guy. That's what I meant basically, was another team taking the guy that we want, under whatever circumstance. Would have been nice to have Gaborik for a couple of years. It was Denis Leblanc and he was the teams GM at one point. He might have been demoted to scout that season. Also Gaborik wouldn't have play a couple years here. He was in the NHL the next season. It would have been one and done.

If you have some sort of requirement to feel you are part of the team then I guess saying "we" makes sense. Sent from my Z10 using proboards With all due respect, drop this shit. It's going to get you perma-banned. Shut up.

I remember them trying to plug holes for draft picks for no reason, it was clear the team wasn't all that good. Sent from my Z10 using proboards

The 98-99 season with Nagy and Tanguay when Halifax finished 2nd overall? Or the 99-00 seasons when Halifax hosted the Memorial Cup?

Wonder who we will pick this year? Ehlers was a great suprise, Meier too. A bit of a random thought but I'm excited to see the Russian we jumped ahead of Moncton to get.

I was looking at a post on another board and they basically listed each teams current Imports. It could be a good possibility that some of these teams take a pass. I guess maybe that is obvious, but the Moosehead will probably technically move up a bit from 19. I am also thinking more teams are looking for prospects in places like Switzerland, Germany, Norway etc then in the Czech Republic or even Russia. A lot of you are way more knowledgeable then myself. Do you think the money thing is big now in these players not reporting?

The Q capped it a few years ago ... at something like $10,000 ... but I believe they get the normal weekly stipend for their age group. Also ... teams can't pay release fees to club teams ... or maybe that was what was capped at $10,000.

If I remeber correctly the team wanted something crazy like 250k for him. It was never disclosed what the moose did end up paying for him either.

I have kinda followed him,(wings fan) he has been inconsistent, almost to good for the echl and not good enough for the ahl. He had 2 hat tricks in 3 games this post season with Toledo.
