Argento is suspended the first two games of the season. (Hunter would have been too) For what? My apologies, I missed that. Cross-checking against Moncton. Hunter got 2 for secondary fight vs Cape Breton. All pre-season suspensions start at the beginning of the regular season.

Saw this version of the Herd for the first time tonight. I think I'm going to like the group as a whole. No one really stood out on the good side tonight though. I think Somppi will take a year to get going like Meier did. But he'll be a good one. Flower was getting pushed around pretty good tonight, but with all 16yo dmen he'll bulk up eventually. I'm sorry for judging him this quickly, but I think Connor is going to be the goat all season. He just doesn't seem to understand when to mix it up and when not to. I hope he settles down. Brassard was shaky. 3 goals on 33 shots isn't too bad at all. But it seemed like most shots turned into an adventure. The angles and bounces are all different with the smaller ice surface and horrible ice conditions that are the forum, so I'll just go ahead and attribute it to that. Happy to be at the rink again. There will be some painful evenings ahead. But we'll surprise some teams this year as well.

So with Agento out for 2 games and Cavan & Cody at NHL camps, we are down to 5 dmen.....who will get the call up?

When on the road in these situations they can give a look to someone from the area they play in. In Halifax its often someone from a team here.

Message board Picks for Captain and Assistant's, I imagine will be named before next Fri - I'd give Bent a C or Cody Doaghey, Dany wouldn't shock me either -Timo had an A last season so give him an A, and Dany if he doesn't get the C Speaking of Cody Donaghey he's a really solid D-men I was watching him last night, he gets back fast and didn't make too many mistakes; I'm sorry to say Quebec but I think we won that trade, Brassard has been solid for us since he came to Halifax. I really like Morgan Nauss too he's a good skater and get back fast if he makes any mistakes.

There will be some painful evenings ahead. But we'll surprise some teams this year as well. It was my first chance to see this years team as well. Somppi showed flashes here and there. Durandeau pretty much the same. Both of them are good at shielding the puck and keeping control which is good to see as rookies. They'll only get stronger. I thought Putintsev was ok. I think he will be good once he figures the league out. For such a small guy he isn't scared to get in the dirty areas. Honestly, nobody showed any 'wow' moments. The only goal we scored was a garbage bang in from the crease. We did have a pretty lethal looking powerplay for a stretch in the 3rd period. Lots of good puck movement but we couldn't hit the net or convert the back door play. Pretty boring game overall. The Forum was really warm so i'm sure the ice conditions played a part in the sloppy play. It's going to be a pretty long year I think. We can only really count on Meier and Moynihan to put up consistent offense. We have a lot of promising rookies, and I enjoy watching young players progress, but from a wins and losses perspective, we're going to struggle to score goals this year so with good coaching we probably lose a lot of 3-2, 3-1, 2-1 type games, which isn't the most exciting hockey. Hey, at least we have a renovated Scotiabank Centre to look forward to!

Will see Worthern or Gibson added for a game or two maybe, they are local Worthen is no longer Moose property I wondered that myself.....I think he may still belong to the Moose......he was allowed to tryout for Moncton, and had he made the team, I think Moncton would have owed us a pick in return Not sure of this thou......can anyone confirm?
