Matthew Waite, Liam Conrad, Anaud Vachon and Jeremy McKenna have left camp to protect NCAA eligibility. Did they draft anybody in the first 10 rounds that isn't "protecting their NCAA"? Holy crap!!

Mckenna is a 5th round but we got this pick in a trade with Val d'or for a 3rd round in 2017. Another swing for the fence ?

There was no room for him this year so better for him to go back to ND or to Jr A. I think he'll play for Moncton if they want him but likely knows where he stands this year and doesn't want to lose his chance at NCAA if he doesn't make them next year. Maybe Maine will offer him a scholarship to replace Crossman

It will be nice for him to play there and get accustomed to the speed of junior hockey.

Longtime reader on the forum but just finally decided to join the discussions... Anyone see today's game and be able to give us a little overview of how the players played? Alex Lavoie for one seems to of had a big game at least from what I can tell following on the Q site he seemed to be involved quite a bit..

Thought Aspirot was the best D followed by Lavoie then Bornstein. Up front liked the Klimas, Corson and Cyr. Dupre was solid in goal.BMD was also decent.

Both Klimas, Corson and Cyr looked good up front. I thought most of the returning players that played looked pretty sluggish and that they didn't care too much. Murphy especially looks lazy, he's listed at over 220 he's a big guy. For goaltending, both Dupre and BMD looked solid but weren't tested a whole lot. They were tiny looking in the net though.

Klimas looked very good, Kelly got 2 goals, Kevin got a bunch of Assists, Leger looked good, played om Klima line for about half the game and of course got a goal, then Bower played with them, looked good and of course got a goal.Lane Cormier stood up for his player being ganged up on. Defencemen joehockey liked I agree with. Liam Murphy took a short shift while we were in their zone. He looks out of shape, lazy or just not interested. The surprise for me was Doug D'Arnall who was steady and impressive.

Lavoie was probably the most impressive of the young players. The Klimas looked good but they are a bit older and have major junior experience. They are small and quick, pretty good hands, will be interesting to see them against Q vets. Bornstein looked good with the puck, plays a high risk style game.

Murphy was listed at 221lbs on the program, not good for a guy they had to push to lose 10lbs last year after he showed up at 212. He definitely did not stand out against a pretty weak Halifax team.

No real surprises but why would MacArthur leave already? He played a preseason game so it's not NCAA. With the CEGEP deadline tomorrow it seems pretty much set that Dupre will be the backup, or is he now not affected by it? Also Unsurprisingly, it seems Corson and Leger are on the team, I think those are the only others that would be affected.

Vachon left voluntarily earlier in the week and I believe MacArthur was just cut tonight. Like you said no real surprises with the first round of cuts. Archibald might be considered a bit of a disappointment after playing Junior A last year as a 16 YO. He really showed nothing in the scrimmages last week. Three players of note that are still in camp and haven't played a game yet - DeStefani, Meisenheimer and Ramin. As for today's game, pretty hard to judge much based on the incredibly lackluster line-up that Halifax iced. Bornstein, Lavoie and Aspirot all looked pretty good which is encouraging for the future. Bornstein is really fun to watch, but as Billy mentioned he's quite high risk in his style of play. Klimas looked good up front and created lots of chances. Corson was involved in the action a lot, just like we saw in the scrimmages last week. None of the vets really jumped out at me, but I'm not going to read into that too much at this point. D'Arnall continues to be one of the surprises of camp. Not much in the way of offence, but very solid in all other aspects of his game.

I'd be shocked if D'arnall sticks, first they pretty much have to keep Cyr and Crossman as 16 year olds, plus he didn't have big MAAA numbers so another year would only help him. It would be nice to keep 2 16/17 year old d-men, to have a base to build with. Even if you have to move Klebanskyj to a contender to make room for a younger player. Same thing for guys like Tibbo Bower up front, shouldn't have any 19 year olds not top 4 on D and top 6 F, plus maybe one of Bower or Leger. I would hope they are trying to move a couple of 18 or 19 year olds before the trade deadline. They won't be contending and having a pile of those guys not in the top 6 F and top 4 D makes little sense. Corson still looks horribly thin, with the style he plays it will be hard against veterans, we saw that last year. He got pounded and eventually got hurt.
