The similarities are eery... 18 year old goalies with little to no Q experience expected to be backups to established numbers ones.. those established number ones struggle.. being pulled from multiple starts... and the backups play solid.. crowd starts to appreciate everytime Kirk announces now in goal for the PEI Rocket.... (last year) Antoine laFleurrrrrr... this year (Marc-Antoine Gelinassssssssssssss...... do we shelf Lafleur now and try and trade him at xmas like we did to Ryno last year? I think we should.... I just hope we can get as good a return as we did last xmas and that we build around that return for next year and beyond

I don't think Gelinas' play in '08 is as strong as Lafleur's was in '07. Gelinas has had a few stinkers so far this season. But from what I remember, Lafleur was always on when called upon last year. By this time last year, Lafleur had basically pushed Mior aside. I don't think the same can be said about Gelinas' play so far this year..... yet.
We'll definitely see Gelinas on Friday.

Gelinas is very good down low. I think he will develop into a great goaltender. I just hope he can stay in position. He got caught out of position a few times this year and got burned. He is only 18 and is learning.

I agree with countryboy. MA is not where Antoine was last season, but I do think that trading Antoine is a good idea, for both sides. Antoine needs a new start, and this team needs some talented players in return. MA will get this team to the playoffs and just as far as Antoine will I feel. Young Evan Mosher is having a banner year in the MJAHL as a 17 year old. Bring him back up after Christmas to back up MA and actually give him stats. Mosher is very underrated on this board I feel. This young man will lead this team for the next couple seasons.

Nothing but good to say about Gelinas. Boys play with confidence with him in the net. Lefleur needs a break so he can get his head on right. A guest goalie coach for a week would do wonders for LeFleur.

And I remember back in August when people said "it doesnt matter who gets picked anyways, they wont see much ice time anywasy" well, good thing Mosher wasnt picked.
Gelinas is playing terriffic, and I'd like to see LaFleur to play the same way but its up to himself to do it.

I might have to retract what I posted earlier about Gelinas. If he plays like this Sunday and Tuesday, it will be tough for Lafleur to get back in there.
I find he's a hard goalie for me to get confident in. The way he flops around bothers me. But, it's working for him.... he's been outstanding the last couple of games and his good games definitely outnumber his poor ones.
Credit to Rocket staff for picking him up for a song. He wasn't going to get a chance in Val d'Or and would've ended up in Jr. AAA.
One thing I like about him as well is that with his small size, he's unlikely to end up in the pros at 20. So we might be looking at 2 more seasons with him.
He's definitely heading in the right direction.

Yes a good pickup, whoever was scouting him for the Rocket did their homework on him.

Gel's amazing. But theres this girl who sits in front of us at the games. She boos him EVERYtime he comes out, never cheers for him either. Tonight when he got first star her friend started clapping and she grabbed her friends' hands and yelled at her to stop. Whats worse is she's a billet family, goes to the parties and is part of the booster club. She should NOT be booing him. He's doing a lot better than lafleur. He doesn't want to be here (laff) and thats why he's doing bad. he just wants to go. But Gel is so good. Yay him.

Sorry, it happened to be the first thing that rhymed with "como". I really dont' see why everyone keeps bringing it up. Though y'all were "more mature" than me. Ha.
