Question of the day. Does this mean Ciampini is no longer an Alumni?

Being new to this forum, interested to hear thoughts on Drouin. Best player I’ve seen in the Q since 2005. Not sure if anybody could name a player better in the last 17 years. I’d argue Drouin was better than them all. Drouin was very good, but tempermental and fragile. His Moosehead season after being drafted but sent back to the Q as a 19 yo did not go well, and it seems like problems have plauged him in life since. Agreed not the best year attitude wise but imagine how many points he would’ve got if he put in a little effort. Fucale cost them back to back memmers. Way better than Val-d’or that year. Again though, can you name one or a couple better than Drouin? In my opinion he’s been the best since Sid.

Maybe I’ve missed it somewhere since I’m new to this thread but would be very cool to hear thoughts on the best Q players ranked since 2005. Feel like Moose players have been ranked too often but would also love to hear personal rankings of moose players.

He was playing head games his first year in Halifax by not reporting. He has elite calibre skill and was told that from the onset by his parents and agent, and that, I believe went to the kids head at a very young age.
He never did realize that to succeed in the NHL involved work ... for the first time in his career.
Locking horns with Stevie Y should have been a wakeup call for him, but no, he let a glorious opportunity slip by because of some unknown reasons.
One doesn't have to look much farther than his Moosehead team mate, Nathan MacKinnon, to find better. There is a pretty healthy list from that point on: Alex Tanguay, JS Giguerre, MacKenzie Weeger, Brad Marchand (parachuted in), Nikolaj Ehler, Timo Meier are all leaving, or have left their marks in the NHL and most on the Stanley Cup, among other major trophies.
Meanwhile, Drouin is most likely suiting up for his last season in the NHL.

Looks like Ciampini is no longer on the scouting list.

Just talking about their time in the Q.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was Andre Tourigny in 2017 that said this Nico Hischier kid would captain an NHL team and eventually win the Selke. Welp, we're almost there.

Separate thoughts:
- Congrats to Barron & Weegar for being selected to play in the World Championships. Wearing the Maple Leaf is always a huge honor.
- Props to Lucic and Toffoli for accepting the invite and helping out the young kids on the team.
- Can we please, for the sake of humanity, have a best-on-best tournament some time in our lifetime? This roster has to be considered Canada's D team. The only player that would even sniff a Canadian Olympic team roster is Weegar, and that'd be close.

Weegar would not be close to sniffing an olympic roster spot Not close to sniffing? Are you trolling? He's no lock by any means but if you pay attention to analytics he's been one of the league's best two-way defenceman over the last 3-4 seasons - elite defender and a monster in transition. At the very least, he's in the same tier as Spurgeon, Reilly, Morrissey and Nurse fighting for the 7th/8th spot. You don't just build an Olympic blueline off guys who put up points. The most recent gold medal team from 2014 had Hamhuis and Vlasic on it... that's the role where Weegar would get a look.

I don't follow the NHL as much as I used to. I wouldn't be confident projecting Canada's defense in a best-on-best tournament. Thought Weegar would at least be debated. Makar, Pietrangelo, Ekblad, Reilly (don't @ me), Nurse?... Theodore? Maybe Owen Power by the time they actually have a tournament. I'm sure there's some defensive dmen in there that I'm missing.

Take out Reilly and Nurse and replace them with Hamilton and Toews and you're pretty close. Power and Byram would be interesting up and comers for sure.
