Any predictions for tonight's game. The boys looked like they were playing as a team last game and not as a one line team. They all seemed to work hard and have fun. Cats get the win tonight 4 to 3.

Not a good start...0-2
Halifax is not great defensively though, so the comeback is still possible.

Still plenty of the first half of the season left to figure things out. Every team has a crappy game once in awhile. The games against SJ will be a very good measurement with full lineups. I think they have the skill and work ethic to beat them. SJ has much better defense and goaltending though. I think it really is going to depend on where they are in the division come christmas time. If they are near the top of the division you may see them add again. Not sure I'd love that especially if all 3 of CHA/CB/SJ also buy but ill wait and see how things go first. Theyve been clear with the media the past 2-3 years their plan has been to stay competitive and in the mix every year and you cant argue they havent been accomplishing that. The defense and goaltending really needs stabilized though going forward. The forwards are solid.

That was a big part of the difference. Most of the goals where good shots, I cant really think of one that I though was the goaltenders fault. Yet I guess all pucks can be stopped. Was not the same team that beat us here earlier in the year, or maybe we are not the same team. If you did not follow the game you may not have noticed that Rumble pulled the goalie with a minute (or so) left in the FIRST period down 2-0. A the time the puck was in the Moose end and we had our fourth line out, Moncton I think had there first line out (Garland was out there at least). Interesting but I think a good risk. Moose did not score and got a penalty so good result. And to all my Moncton friends............Sweeeeeet Win

It was not just based on a random Thursday night game. Last five games :
Lost 6-3 to CHI Lost 6-5 to QC (did make a comeback last period, it would have been much uglier) Won 7-4 against CB Won 7-1 against HAL Lost 5-2 to HAL
These are all teams in that are in the basement. Unless something happens, we are going to have a very hard time against the top teams (RN, SHA, VD and DRU).

I wouldn't say CB is basement team, they are very talented but shoot themselves in the foot a lot.

Honestly I think Moncton took a win against the Mooseheads for granted last night and just didn't come to play. They won on Sunday easily by a score of 7-1 and weren't tested so it is human nature for that to happen.
Did the Mooseheads play well? Yes, best game I have seen our kids play at home all year. But Moncton was off, especially Garland who was clearly frustrated at the attention he received.

Since when is finishing 2nd overall and making it to the league semi-finals considered "mid pack"? Anybody that watched a lot of the Q...I mean the whole Q, not just the Maritimes...would tell you the Cats were never the 2nd best team in the league, they just beat up on a weak division, and the numbers show it(I would post them but I couldn't find them). It took them 7 games to get by a sub .500 team in Halifax. They were closer to a mid pack team than to Rimouski and Quebec. Edit: Found it chlcluster.leaguestat.com/download.php?client_code=lhjmq&file_path=daily-report/daily-report-2015-03-23.htmlCats were 34-9-1 vs Maritime teams and 12-10-2 vs the other divisions. That's only a .500 winning percentage vs non Maritime teams. The other 5 Maritime teams were all in the 2nd half of the standings.

You can throw all the stats you want at me, but you said they're happy to be mid pack and they most definitely weren't mid pack last season. In the end no one was really close to Rimouski or Quebec so that's hardly an indictment on the Cats season. Bottom line is they won the division and finished 2nd overall. Not even remotely mid pack. It doesn't really matter how they got there. You can only play with the hand your dealt. Would they have been a mid-pack if they were playing in the East Division? Quite possibly, but they don't play in that division. Did you think they should have sold at during the trade period last year? That wouldn't have sent a great message to the fans at a time when they clearly had Saint John well within their grasp for the division lead and hadn't seen past the first round in five years. It also would have been foolish to go all in and load up and thankfully they didn't do that either. Instead they got rid of some bad apples and brought in some character guys. Admittedly they ended up with a pretty poor return on Tkachev, but overall I think they made the right moves considering the situation. We're not even at the quarter mark of this season so it's way too early to know what they're going to do when the trade period comes around. Speculation is fun and all, but I'm quite sure no one on here really has a clue what's going to happen. We haven't seen them play Saint John's actual roster or a single team from the West yet so it's pretty hard to say how they stack up.

To be considered a league championship contender, you have to at the same level as the top teams and the Cats were not. As I said earlier, "2nd overall" was a product of beating up on a weak division. Pretty obvious when you play for a .500 winning percentage against the two other divisions that, this one is a lot weaker. You can deny it all you want but the numbers clearly back it up.
