Fortin gone. Blade Mann-Dixon and Austin Kosack added.
Safe to assume they'll be trying to add a goalie at the trading period if they plan on contending.

Must be a more defensive dman. Not much for offensive stats in the OHL.

What a mind boggling move??? Is this guy a significant upgrade on Johnston? I am sure at the point it came time to trade Johnston cause Sweeney was back, we knew the caliber of goaltending we were getting from Fortin.. So instead of having Johnston (playing at a pt per game d man) we dump a goalie we paid a fourth for and added an extra part from OHL team..

Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon had this to say about the decision. “We are currently evaluating our defence and want to be able to give some of our younger players a chance at more ice time. We would like to thank Sacha for his time with the Wildcats and wish him all the best in his return to Summerside.”

Must be a more defensive dman. Not much for offensive stats in the OHL. Fortin has been outplayed by Dupre lately ... Dupre just looks more comfortable in the net. But, I doubt we are making any big deals to go for it with Dupre as a our #1. On his stats ... he had pretty good numbers as an 18 YO in the USHL. Just from all of this he seems like another Malatesta. He is an 8th rd pick in the OHL draft ... 2011. But it seems he held out for NCAA options ... so may have gone higher if he was certain to report.

Sounds like another Talbot-Tassi type d-man.

Yup, the deal was being reported well before Sweeney even came back. Also at least the Cats got a 4th rounder back out of that deal to make up for the 4th they wasted on Fortin. As mentioned above I assume they're still on the lookout for goaltending because the situation is far from resolved at this point. Mann-Dixon's numbers in Valley this season haven't been very good at all. It will be interesting to see what Kosack can bring to the table. He was playing NCAA last year before jumping to North Bay. Looks like he was just caught up in a numbers game this season. Obviously a bit noteworthy that they couldn't trade him to another OHL team, but that could just be circumstance. Hopefully at worst he can provide a nice boost to the depth on defence.

Spending a 4th on Forting and trading away Johnston as a result also is the painful part here.
Hopefully the new guy can replace GJ.
In nets, I assume Mann-Dixon is just a temporary fix. I'm sure they must be scouring the FA market or looking to make a trade there...

Hopefully at worst he can provide a nice boost to the depth on defence. what's the story on the kid leaving NCAA to join the OHL and then getting turfed very early in his overage season From what I gather it sounds like North Bay wanted an overage player up front and they were already using the other 20-year-old slots on their starting goalie and top defenceman. www.nugget.ca/2015/10/15/puck-luck-comes-with-hard-workButler said the absence of Santos demonstrated how "thin" they are up front along the boards, although the return of the overage forward isn't good news for mobile blueliner Austin Kosack. With starting goalie Jake Smith and defenceman Miles Liberati owning the two other overage spots on the roster, Kosack is the odd-man out. "We're trying to find a home for him in the league," Butler said, adding Kosack has been great since joining the Battalion mid-season last year and "he's really helped the young kids."

I'm sure they must be scouring the FA market or looking to make a trade there... It has to be a 19 yo or younger goaltender. Unless Johnson is injured long term. Or ... a deal is in place to move Sweeney pre-trade period.
