Very animated first period, 2-1 Remparts.
Beautiful feed for Vallerand's goal, Gélinas had no chance.
Lachaine got that one back on a short-handed breakaway, nice deke to the backhand side to twist goalie Roy into a pretzel.
Then with 6 seconds left in the period, Esposito batted one in mid-air and in behind Gélinas for the go-ahead power-play goal.
For the Rocket, Main, Southorn, Lachaine, Kana and Mo looked very good, as did Gélinas; several solid rushes by Southorn, and a beautiful feed by Main to send Gallant in on a breakaway...didn't score, of course.
Esposito was the best player on the ice, however, with Petit and Sauvé also playing very well.....Sauvé is very good on faceoffs, beat Mo a few times.
Noticed that Pierre Bergeron plays D for Québec, doubtless the same Bergeron who played here a couple of years ago.
Good, lively first period, 13 shots each side.
Unfortunately, Rocket blew a 55-second 2-man advantage, as usual, not taking enough shots on goal, not moving around enough in the offensive zone, content to form a large box and pass it around....didn't work.
Rocket can win this game, I feel.

Just after Morrison-Walker missed on a 2-on-1 created by Mo when he intercepted a pass deep in his own end, Remparts score off a scramble.
Gélinas should have had that one.
Very weak team defensive play by the Rocket on that goal.
3-1 Remparts.

The Québec play-by-play guy just said that they collected 3262 Teddy Bears thrown onto the ice after the first Rempart goal!
Must be some kind of record for a teddy bear toss.

Doyle and Kana go in on a 2-1, and Doyle blasts one past Roy, from the top of the faceoff circle.
3-2 Remparts.
Right now, the teams are playing firewagon hockey, going end-to-end.....and I'm not convinced at all that this works in favor of the Rocket.
Both teams playing the transition game very well, though, creating lots of 2-on-1's.

Very sloppy puck clearing by the Rocket leads to a goal by Lacroix, not at all Gélinas' fault.
4-2 Remparts.
This is definitely NOT the Rocket's type of game....much too wide-open.
Not looking good right now, defence falling apart.

Exactly halfway through the second period and the game, shots are 29-15 Remparts.
Remps already have 16 shots on goal in the 2nd period......in 10 minutes.
Not good, Québec will probably end up with over 50 SOG's.

Anyone know if Québec goalie Jonathan Roy is Patrick Roy's son?
He kind of looks like him.

He is our backup.

It is his son. He is our backup. Thanks. Jonathan looks a little shaky handling the puck outside the net, as one of the announcers said.....kinda like his old man Patrick.
