Besides each other's viewpoints of course It's my opinion we should sell (just an opinion if you disagree that's ok).. it's also my opinion we need to add some solid 18 year old forwards for the next two years to complement our strong base of 17's we currently have I don't know how viable any of these acquisitions would be but i'd rather talk about this than bitch back and forth about the merits of messageboard postings on QMJHL hockey players here's who I would love to see the Rocket target if at all possible 1) Jeff DesJardins (would be an excellent playmaking replacement for Brett Morrison) 2) Matthieu Tousignant ( closest thing to Max Lapierre since we had Max Lapierre) 3) P.A. Vandall ( this kid is a pure sniper with wheels to burn) 4) Paul Byron (wishful thinking but we've ripped off Gatineau every year so far.. why buck the trend? )

18 as I clearly stated

Not sure what Shawinigan would like in return - they're kind of a mediocre, sllightly-below-middle-of-the-pack team, like another team we know. I like the approach of "targeting" players by age and position. Do we want defencemen? If so, what age? Depends on whether we get rid of any, of course, but 18 sounds good for defencemen also. If we don't get any 18-year-olds, we'll be awfully short of 19-year-olds next year - it'll be GĂ©linas and McKinley, assuming, of course, that Cliche doesn't come back, which he won't. Mind-boggling that Rocket management would go into a season with so few good 18-year-olds.

Like I said in another thread, I think we should actually be targeting an 18 year old potential 1st pairing defenceman as our top priority.
Off the top of my head I can think of Mariani, Cusack, MacAskill, perhaps Bourdon or Tougas from RN.

What about Macmillan from the Mooseheads, do you think the Rocket would be interested ?

Mariani ain't no possible top pairing dman nor is McAskill Bourdon would be great but I see the lack of scoring next year as a much bigger problem than the defense

You're probably right, I don't know a whole lot about either player. Those were just some of the 18 year old defenceman I could think of from the East. I had to look up the RN pairing, cuz I have no idea about players in the West.

I doubt Vandall is available to be dealt. To get him, Rocket would have to give very good prospects. He is our offensive spark with McNicoll, and what we need to add are at least one or two top notch wingers to upgrade offense.

What about Macmillan from the Mooseheads, do you think the Rocket would be interested ? Right now, MacMillan is out because of a concusion. His parents pulled him off the team and brought him a few weeks ago to recover. My mom was talking to Mrs. MacMillan, and thats she told her. But if the Rocket got him, once he got back, he would defanatly kick some ass.

"4) Paul Byron (wishful thinking but we've ripped off Gatineau every year so far.. why buck the trend? )"
That's a pretty funny staement actually. The Olympiques continue to be amongst the elite of the league year after year after being fleeced by the Rocket??? Our Piques are siiting in first overall right now while the Rocket - with the exception of their inaugural season - continue to be mediocre even with your great trades! Groulx gets rid of players without heart, great work ethic, and non team players.
I've read this board often enough to see postings about Lessard, Morrison, and even Walker of being lazy, uninterseted at times, etc. Hence why they are no longer with Gatineau. Gervais was always a very hard worker and is missed and would look great on our team right now.
The way I see it is the proof is in the standings and the consistency in our organization year after year and although many people won't agree with me, Mior has done much more for our team than Morrison has done for the Rocket. Time will tell in the rest of the year and I might eat crow, but I feel we won that trade hands down. Mior is a much different and improved player since coming here and it's all about coaching and commitment demanded by Groulx!!
Merry Christmas and God Bless to all!

Walker and Morrison yes you can say that sometimes they could be accused of being lazy. However, I've never read anywhere be it on a Gatineau or Rocket forum, someone saying Lessard was lazy or uninterested. Lessard is not your flasy D man he gives 100 % every game. He makes errors but who wouldn't when your playing 25 to 30 minutes a game. The Rocket are getting many calls for Lessard because he would be a #1 or #2 D man on any team in the league.

Groulx gets rid of players without heart, great work ethic, and non team players. Except when he picked up Slava Trukno.... from PEI. ;D
