I've looked back a few years, and seems that the Rocket usually draws big crowds for holiday games - i.e. games between Christmas and New Year's Day.
In 03-04 and 04-05, those games were sold out.
In 05-06, 3500+, nearly sold out, even though attendance had already dropped off from the year before.
In 06-07, the first Holiday game drew 3300+, but the next one, Saturday nite, only 2500+.
Still, on the whole, and for obvious reasons, Holiday crowds tend to be bigger than the average Rocket crowd.
All this to say that tomorrow (Friday) nite's crowd will be a good indicator as to whether Rocket crowds will pick up between now and March.
I predict 2700+ tomorrow nite - announced, since they never tell us how many people are REALLY there.
Hope I'm wrong and that the crowd is over 3000, but I'd really be shocked if that happened.
....once people stop going, it's hell to get them back.......

Tomorrow Night would be the perfect opportunity for the Rocket Organization to pull out all the stops and show the crowd a good time. Lots of prizes and entertainment between periods. Would be great if the boys won too. You never know .... they may get a few people to come back for the next game.

There's been no publicity at all, and the game is tomorrow. You'd hardly know there's a game on Friday nite.

Holiday season games have bigger crowds because there are more people here.. people from away visiting home.....
It won't tell us any indication of the crowds between now and March....especially if we get the predicted storm

The size of a holiday crowd DOES give us an indication of what to expect the rest of the regular season, in the sense that you're unlikely to top a holiday crowd at any time between Jan 1st and mid-March. If all we get tomorrow nite is 2600 or so (what I expect), then you'll not see 3,000 at The Morgue this year till it's playoff time.

I am thinking we will get a nice crowd on Friday. I imagine a lot of people will be wanting to get the kids out of the house for a while.

We should get a good crowd Friday, and if not, that is ridiculous. What else is there to do on a Friday night during the Holidays.
Id like to see a good crowd tomorrow

Even if the Rocket were able to draw 3000 people to the game on Friday, it still wouldn't be an indication as to what the attendance is going to be like for the rest of the season because they likely wouldn't do it again between now and the playoffs anyways.
I agree with Observer that if they get a decent crowd, which has been the case in the past for a holiday game, they should be pulling out the stops as far as promotions, giveaways, etc. It's one thing to have people come out for one game but you have to do the things to get them back for the 2nd, 3rd, etc games also, and right now there doesn't even seem to be a push on for the Friday night game.

I am not convinced that the people in charge of marketing the team have the skills to fill the building. Tomorrow's game is a prime example - very little promotion - very little hype created unless the editorial today basically pleading for support is considered hype. For what it's worth the talk I hear, is for the ROCKET to treat the front office just like a trading period and go out and get the best person to help fill the seats and create some buzz out there.I hear it at the CC and over and over and over again at Tim's, go get the guy(even if he is from Summerside) who ran the Memorial Cup for Irving. Show us you really care!

Fisher, you are preaching to the choir on going out and getting the "right" person for the job, not gonna happen tho I don't think.
Looking forward to getting back to the rink tonight, tho was hoping we would have seen a trade or 2 by now. Storm wasn't to bad so I am thinking a crowd announced at 2775!

Usually the crowd is big right after Christmas cause the game is part of the Rocket Stocking Stuffer 5-pack...
I might be wrong, but I am not sure if the Rocket did that this season, and if they did, it wasn't nearly as well advertised as previous years cause I never heard a thing about it on the P.A. at games..

We all know that the marketing man for the Rocket job is secure because of family connections, If I ran a business like this I would have been fired by now or the business would be belly up. Serge need to take a good look at the office and make some changes if he really wants to stay on PEI!

I would agree but you still need to market especially when the team has not been that good, They need to find a way to get fans into the rink and make them want to come back for more. Yes if the win and it is entertaining they will come back but the still need to do more.
