He'll be picking up his gear tomorrow and will start with the Caps once the Rocket release him. Its expected that he will enroll in university full time next year so no more major A. With probably 5 of the 6 defensemen returning next season there will not be any difference for him anyway really.
He took his shot and now all he wants to do is get his schooling paid for. Summerside will give him some help with that and he will prob be able to get academic scholarship too as he is an excellent student.

Hoickeydog....there was nothing negative about my post. I was just informing everyone of his intentions. I want to see him go to Tier 2. I am not surprised that you take a personal shot at me though. Been reading your postson all topics all season long and you never write anythiong positive about anything.

I'd love to see the Rocket trade him, and the new team he goes to, he turns into one of their best defenseman. That would be a real assbite for the Rocket. lol.

I don't know the Clow family personally but I have heard he is a great kid and after watching him play some back in bantam/midget I was really looking forward to him succeeding in the Q. So I will be disappointed if it is true that Clow will be leaving the team to play with the Capitals, especially if he is really upset over it. Having said that I don't think that Clow has been mistreated. He has now played for 2 different coaches, neither of which considered him ready to play at this level and to be honest even in the limited mins I saw him play I didn't think he looked ready for this league either. The kid has skills but he hasn't adjusted well and I hear he doesn't have the same passion/commitment for this game that most players have. IMO the big mistake was Clow going to that prep highschool for hockey last season instead of playing for the Rocket as it basically stunted his development as from what I heard it really wasn't any better than major midget. Especially when you compare him to Malouin & Deighan who developed much better player in Jr last season. Also I am not sure why some people are so worked up about this. We basically had 3 17 yr old rookie defensemen and odds were at least one of them wasn't going to work out. I mean the CHL is elite hockey and not all of the top prospects can adjust to this level. As I said I feel bad for Clow but I would have felt equally bad had it been Malouin or Deighan. The difference is those two have shown that they can play at this level while Clow hasn't. Best of luck Allan and I hope things go well for you with the Capitals

People are disappointed because he was a "first round" talent who dropped to us.. then gave up his NCAA to come play.. then did well in re-season.. then essentially ended up stapled to the bench for half a season
if he was a 5th round talent who just made the team but ended up quitting halfway thru his 17 y/o season.. i'd say who cares
I don't see Malouin or Deighan becoming future offensive D.... putting more pressure on Southorn in the next 2 years
that's the difference
also i remember us giving up on Bergeron and Bezeau as 17's and both have gone on to show they could still play in this league

The Rocket didn't give up on Bezeau him and his father demanded a trade, same reason why he was moved from Bathurst and Victoriaville. But I agree with you on Bergeron as I was always a fan of him and I see some similar characteristics in Malouin in being a late bloomer with a great attitude and will contiually progress through 5 yrs in the Q exactly what I have always been against moving Malouin which I think you were/are pushing for. Also it was Vigneault who gave up on Bergeron so even great coaches don't always make the right moves. And you are right I don't see Malouin or Deighan necessarily becoming top offensive defensemen rather solid allaround defensemen especially on the defensive side. Having said that I'm not convinced that Clow would become one either. Chouinard obviously isn't.

its not a negative comment at all. it's fact. to say he is not ready, is not a knock against him. i have said many times he can play in this league, but maybe not this year. you just do not like hearing that.

One player....two different coaches....neither see him as Q ready, right now. So be it....move on. He'll have another shot next year, if he so desires. For those pointing the fingers at management, someone once told me that 50 millon Elvis Presley fans can't be all wrong.

Why bring in a player who is just going to sit in the stands or glued to the bench with an exception of a shift or two, why not have him playing with the Caps at the start of the season? If he was in fact not ready for the Q, wouldn't that have been evident at training camp? He could have been playing all this time with the Caps working on his game and his confidence would still be intact. Who knows, when mid-season came around they could have traded him for something of value in return, or he could have been ready for a call- up during this season.

With the departure of Clow to the Caps, that leaves this team with 6 dman.
Look for the Rocket to try to land one via trade, or perhaps call up Owens from the MJAHL.
