What's a letter to the editor without mention of canned pop, or Boomer wearing shorts in the winter. You know we have it darn good around here when these issues get people riled up. You forgot to mention swearing at the Aerosmith concert. At least the Rocket is making the editorial pages these days, and that can't be anything but good. About frigging time people around here started talking publicly about their Major Junior hockey team - the one that'll be playing well into mid-to-late April this season.

I think tonight will go down as one of the worst reffed games at the CCC. Terrible calls and missed calls, both ways. The Malouin call was brutal. He was the aggressor. He went after the player who hit Walker from behind and ran when Malouin gave chase to have him answer for his action. No call on the bad hit, the guy did drop his gloves, he did not have a tied down jersey, just a pathetic call. To top it off the ref and time keepers screwed up and cost us 19 seconds of power play as well. The two minute minor aggressor call was being served when the Titan scored with 5:19 remaining in the seven minutes. The First minor should have ended and the 5 minute major should have started. When the Titan picked up a penalty with 1:54 left on Malouin's penalty there should only have been 1:35 left.{EDIT .....
The PP situation was handled correctly by the officials. If there is a situation where a player is assessed a combination of a minor and a major penalty, the major penalty is served to completion first before the minor penalty is served. cb
Thanks, I thought penalties were served in the order they occured.
END EDIT....}On the Main scrap I'd give the edge to Main. He finished strong and got a few good shots in at the end. He gave up at least 6 inches and I'd bet 30 pounds on the guy and handled himself real well. As for Gallant, he invited Graham to go off the face off with 10 seconds left in the second. Chouinard sent Morrison Lachaine and Gallant out for the face off. Gallant lined up next to Graham, who had been chirping and trying to get Lessard to go a few minutes earlier. Graham declined Gallants offer. On the Walker - Slaney delay of game, if Malouin deserved an aggressor, a major and a game, Slaney should have gotten more than Walker. He gave Walker two shots to the back with the stick after the whistle when Walker was skating away. Walker turned and dropped the mitts. Slaney had no appetite to finish what he clearly started.

It wasn't "Slaney", it was Stanley - Kyle Stanley, a relative of the family, whom the Titan have just acquired from the Foggies.

Slaney is a Cape Breton player that Gervais pumped Sunday in CB. Stanley, like The Count pointed out, was recently acquired from St. John's.

This means that in a situation like tonight, where Malouin is given 5 + 2, then the 5 minute penalty is served first, and after completion the 2 minute penalty is served. So, the Titan could store all they want during the first 5 minutes of the power play and they would remain with the man advantage. But any goal they should score after the first 5 minutes of the penalty would result in the end of the PP. cb
