A player can be a leader and not have a letter, but a captain should always be a leader and often is the player that the majority of the team considers to be "the leader". It's a good thing that we have 3 captains then!! Lot's of leaders in the Rocket room this season!

I fully agree that all three guys are leaders on this team.
My preference for Captain was Walker but would not have been disappointed if either Matty or Main had gotten the nod, but I think one them should have. By using the three of them in an alternating role we have really created three assitant captains not a captain.

I think they made a good decision with rotating the captaincy between Main, Lachaine and Walker. The 3 of them haven't been a captain or an assistant captain at this level before and to give it to only one of them at this stage of the season, it might have taken awhile for that one player to adjust and get used to his new role but rotating it amongst the 3 of them will ease that adjustment. Plus it's not like the Rocket had only traded their captain and an assistant was able to step up, they traded all their captains and players like Main, Lachaine and Walker, who may have already been leaders in the dressing room, are now the go to guys for leadership where they didn't necessarily have to be before.

A call to lead P.E.I. Rocket head coach Guy Chouinard elects to go with a rotating captaincy for the remainder of the season JACLYN KILLINS The Guardian
Three players will share captaincy for the remainder of the season, the P.E.I. Rocket announced Wednesday at a press conference in Charlottetown.
Geoff Walker, Bryan Main and Mathew Lachaine will alternate as captain for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League club.
With the recent shake-up of the roster through trades and it being late in the season, Rocket head coach Guy Chouinard decided to stick with the three-player rotation the team has been using recently.
“We liked the idea with the rotation and that’s how we’ll go,” Chouinard said.
Walker, from Charlotttown, looks forward to wearing the ‘C’ in his home arena.
“It’s everyone’s dream to do that.”
Chouinard is looking to his three captains to lead by example, he said. “They’ll be a bridge between us and the players.”
Walker said he is ready for the challenge of captain and he looks forward to helping the young guys and getting the team on the same page, whether it’s on the ice or off.
“Everywhere you go you’ve got to show leadership.”
The six new players acquired from recent trades were formally introduced at the news conference and are expected to add youth and size to the Rocket lineup.
Acquired from Baie Comeau were defencemen Raphael Neiderer and Myles Gomes as well as centre Mathieu Tousignant.
Defenceman Dylan Quaile was acquired from Rouyn-Noranda along with left-winger Benjamin Casavant.
Philippe Garnier was acquired from Rimouski.
Rocket fans were leary to see such key players as Pierre-Luc Lessard, Brett Morrison and Benoit Gervais go, but Chouinard assures the new additions are quality players.
“Three years down the road people will see it was the right thing to do.”
With Neiderer and Casavant both 16-year-olds, and the other four new players in their teens as well, the Rocket has added youth to their lineup.
“We are a younger team than we were a few weeks ago,” Chouinard said. “Some guys are younger and we’ll have to be more patient with them.”
Neiderer said he feels welcomed on the team and on the Island and sees moving as being part of the career of a hockey player.
He also likes his new coach. “He gives me the chance to prove myself.”
The Rocket goal is still the same, to finish as high as they can in the standings and to make a run for the playoffs, Chouinard said. The next Rocket home game is Sunday at 4 p.m. against Rouyn-Noranda.
Fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the annual Lions Club Food Drive in support of the Upper Room Food Bank.
The Rocket will also be honouring the P.E.I. team that will be competing at the Special Olympics National Winter Games in Quebec City.
