Clearly better for next year
I argue we are not as bad off for this year as many think
Morrison won't be replaced, no doubt.. but I actually like our defense now better than I did with Lessard... Quaile is quite underrated I think and will provide us some great stability back there.... I know very little about Garnier but he is younger than Gervais with similar numbers ..... Neiderer and Gomes is an improvement in bottom pairing from rotation of Malouin-Clow-Deighan
If we could add Chavira to help offset the scoring lost from Morrison.... I'd say we'd be ahead of where we were
If Lafleur and Gelinas can find a comfortable rotation in nets we might have as good a 1-2 punch as there is... LaFleur needs to shape up tho.. maybe getting past the trade period still here will do that for him
also Latal needs to be the player he was at the start of the year.. if he can be.. I still say lookout

We are definitely better for next year.
As for this year, I'm not familiar enough with the new players to make an informed post on the remainder of this season but here are my thoughts for what they're worth.
On offense: We have definitely lost some major scoring up front by moving Mo. We have added Tousignant, Lachaine's has shown great promise in the last month and if Latal gets his game together we may be able to fill the gap.
As for bringing up Chavira, I'd pass on that, as curious as I am to see how he'd perform at this level, I'd prefer to see the guys who will be on the team next year pick up the experience, particularly Cassavant.
My gut reaction on our new D is that while we have lost some individual strength we have a more balanced defense that can share the load a little more.
Given the number of moves in the past two days I'd say we're in for a rough ride for the remainder of the season as the guys work to fit in and Guy gets to know the new talent and where everyone will fit.
Given Chouinard's experience I think he will handle the transition well and help the players adjust to their new roles here and despite what I expect to be a rough ride I think we will still have an entertaining second half.
GO ROCKET GO

when tousignant shows up, we will be fine i believe. a little more offense would be nice, but i agree we are stronger on the back end. i dont see a rotation in nets tho, as lafleur certainly has not earned every 2nd start. gelinas has won the #1 job i would have to think.

Sooooo much better.
I know what we lost, I know who we gave up, but I think that some are underestimating how this team will play during the 2nd half.
I like this team. Love the moves that were made and the players that were brought in.
Quaile is a solid Dman...and as you said, underrated.
Tousignant is a pt per game player....and Neiderer is going to be a solid Dman for this team.
Doyle-17 Southy-17 Kana-17 Mosher-17 CoonCome-17 DesRoches-17 Deighan-17 DesRoches-17 Malouin-17 Wright-17 MacLean-16 Neiderer-16 Casavant-16 Street-16
Nice group of youngsters to build around.

Nice group of playres to use this summer to add a piece or two for a run next year
I'm interested to see what Cassavant can do as well.. but if he's as green as coonCome has been I'd rather leave him where he is until next year

Agree with you guys. While we lost two of our top defenseman, it seems we added reliable guys and depth. We shouldn't be as reliable on four guys now and that should mean guys are more energized at end of game.

In the long run I think we are better, these kind of moves should have been made years ago and am glad they finally did something with what seems like a long term plan instead of knee-jerk type moves or a wait-and-see attitude. Not sure how much of that is attributed to Chouinard, but it seems like someone was able to convince Savard into perhaps a new line of thinking. This is the first time in a long time where it seems like things can finally come together and I don't think it's a coincidence that it is happening since Chouinard has arrived.
As far as this year, time will tell until we can see these guys play together and see how it comes together. If the rest of the season doesn't go well standings-wise, at the end of the season it is going to be easier to take knowing that the future is bright which is a feeling that hasn't been there come March or April in past years.
Great moves by the Rocket and kudos to them for being able to try something different.

I'll say Moncton misses. Although, as a social experiment, I'm tempted to say Bathurst, just to see what kind of post count we get on this thread.

I think we've gotten better. Were looking good for future seasons down the road say two to three years.

I see Guy's fingerprint all over this trade. I am sure he wants to win like anyone else but has the experience to know that it may take a rebuilding year to get their. Most of the trades are good size guys carrying the right amount of weight..... especially the defence.
