This would be a good time for Serge to step in and act as a mediator to help these guys move past their differences. Usually, when someone is in the doghouse, it's because they've put themselves there. It's not Savard's job to "mediate" their differences. Chouinard seems like a fair coach, giving icetime to those that are deserving, and taking away from those that aren't. So I would think that Latal will be given the opportunity to work his way out of the doghouse. It'll be up to Latal to do something with that opportunity.

Marty has the skill to get himself back on track, but it's up to him to do so. He never was a great finisher, and never will be. He has speed and he needs to use that once again. Try not to do to much by himself......and stay away from the "rushing down the wing and giving the puck up" routine. Since Guy took over, majority of this team has improved/adjusted their play......Marty needs to as well.

This is exactly what we don't want happening. Chouinard is an experienced coach and he should be allowed to coach this team how he sees fit. And, even if I haven't agreed with all of his decisions, so far I think he has really great job. Latal had an opportunity to play regular second line ice time against Drummondville and VdO. Obviously his performance wasn't up to expectations if he was a healthy scratch the following game. And I'm fine with that. I want a team who dresses and plays the players who are working the hardest and producing the most. I personally don't care about status. I agree with you Latal has the skill that he should really be a top forward on this team but he hasn't performed like one for a while now. Don't fool yourself in thinking that Serge has no say in the day to day hockey operations. This is not about status and there's more going on here then letting the coach run the team as he sees fit. Being a mediator is not necessarily telling the coach how to do his job and it could help resolve whatever the heck is going on here. We can certainly use that top forward down the stretch Yes there is alot more going on lately, It was Serges decision to scratch Latal, right now he is on very thin ice(day to day) Latal is starting to seem like a MAG....

I was told a few weeks ago by a couple of people that Latal has gotten an ego since last season, if that is true not sure if it is having an effect on his play or not, but something is. I don't think that Chouinard needs Savard to act as a "mediator" between the two, Chouinard has been around long enough to know how to handle players who are not playing well or who are not getting with the system.
Who's to say that Latal has only had a problem with the coach since Chouinard has arrived, he could have had a problem with the coaching, systems, etc when Jean was here also. I attended a practice early in the season where Latal wasn't following and putting much effort into the defensive drills for the forwards. It got bad enough that Jean told him to sit on the bench if he wasn't going to follow the drills. After a bit Jean went to the bench to talk to him and after a minute or so of conversation between the two of them, Latal was sent to the dressing room and IMO rightfully so.
Not sure what is up with Latal but he is not playing anywhere near his skill level and I agree with Score when he said it's up to Latal to get himself on track. Chouinard can't be rewarding someone with more ice time if they are playing poorly when he has a bench full of other players who are playing well and are deserving of ice time because of their efforts. Talented or not, Latal can't rely on that talent alone and shouldn't be rewarded with ice time solely based on talent and skill.

i would think, if xavard is going to start telling chouinard who to scratch, and who to play, chouinards term here will be short. i doubt he will stand for that.he is an experienced coach, who i assume decides who plays, and who doesnt
