Trump's problem is he is not a trained politician. They all do exactly the same bull shit, but the trained politicians (like Obama) get away with more. For the rest there is absolute no difference. Absolute power corrupts.

On the contrary, he is more tainted than any politician. He just hasn't been under constant public scrutiny like career politicians. His deals with the Russian mafia to get back in business in the mid 90's after his casinos collapsed "bigly"(while all other casinos were raking in billions) would not have come out had he never run for political office. Same for his not paying of contractors who work on his properties, or paying him 25 cents on the dollar instead of the agreed to price. Also his numerous entanglements with the DOJ for discriminating against minorities while renting his apartments in the 70's and 80's. Trump has not changed, he's always been the same egomaniac, self centered a-hole, but in politics more people saw him for what he was. Trump is used to being in privilege and getting his way because of his name and money. Politics is about "what's in it for me", always has and always will.

Bottom line, if I want to make shady deals, it's a lot easier to do it as a private business man with deep pockets(who can afford expensive lawyers) than as a politician who has to adhere to higher ethics laws and 1,000% more scrutiny.
