To recap, literally the only thing the Republican Congress was able to accomplish this year is devising a way to give Donald Trump and his family a one billion dollar tax cut.
A bunch or rich republicans just voted to give each other a huge tax cut. What happened to all the GOP outrage over the deficit? Most conservative estimates are a 1T debt growth as a result of the bill.

Corporations getting huge tax cuts has nothing to do with jobs, it will go into stock buy backs, dividends and bonuses for executives just like it always does. This is the GOP surrendering to it's donors, they even admitted so on tv!!!

Trump corruption...
Trump:
-Hired his friends and family
-Gave himself a giant tax cut
-Uses government funds to play golf at his personal courses
-Promotes his resort as the “Winter White House”
-Fired someone investigating him
-Ordered the investigation of a political opponent
Corruption.

What that doesn't tell you though is the negative effect on health care and other areas (climate) where that money is coming from. Having low taxes means nothing if your population isn't healthy and doesn't have access to affordable health care. Say what you want about Canada....but our poor people aren't needing to decide between a 6 figure bill to fight their disease or feeding/housing themselves during their treatment. There's much more done by a country with a lot less to keep our people not only healthier but keeping them out of gigantic medical debt. But yeah lets pass off that 1% tax break where middle class families will barely see any more disposable income as some great thing when the reality is the services lost mean the gap between the haves and have nots not only widens but literally starts to try to kill off poorer people with limited access to health insurance. A President who doesn't know the difference between weather and climate isn't giving everyone a tax break out of the goodness of his heart.

In Ontario people have had to choose between paying their power bills, which have increased by a ridiculous amount thanks to Wynne's obsession with being green, and buying groceries.

In Ontario people have had to choose between paying their power bills, which have increased by a ridiculous amount thanks to Wynne's obsession with being green, and buying groceries. Sure. There needs to be a balance. Since the peak of that issue their bills have gone down a bit as other programs are adopted to try and help some of those struggling the most. People in the Maritimes have been making that decision for many years now so perhaps that's why we're not quite as empathetic towards some of those people in Ontario. In many cases realizing you need to downsize to live within your means is the unfortunate answer yet one people in this region have had to do in order to retire here. There's much worse situations to be in then needing to sell your hours for an apartment/condo lifestyle because you can't afford the cost of home ownership vs getting cancer and being asked to pay 6 figures for treatment or die. People living off of government assistance are going to be living off of food banks and handouts throughout the Canadian winter in most cases. Little ways to stop that. But not saddling them with life altering crippling debt if they happen to get sick is something the right wing likes to talk around with conversations about left wing politicians and power costs...while never once seeming to acknowledge that being short on a bill and not having the money to fight a life ending disease as very very far from being the same thing or at all comparable.

You don't need a family doctor to get treated. You get critically ill tomorrow and you will get treated right away with or without a family doctor. No system is perfect, but the Canadian system is 100x better than the US one...costs are lower and nobody gets left out because they only make 8$ an hour and have no health insurance.

Yeah or if your kid needs an organ transplant you won't need to decide between your kid living or having a roof over your head. Or if they've survived a disease you won't need to pay a sky high premium to keep them insured against the next potential disease. Americans act like health care is something only rich people should need vs declaring the access to it a human right. Can't have those poor people getting healthy and living longer....
