As per Flipper a couple days ago: "Just a short note concerning the intro of new players. as announced the Rocket are having a press conference as you are aware.
Press conferences are just that, they are for the media, IE: radio, newspapers, TV, etc.
It is being held at that time because of the non game day schedule on Wednesday. The usual non game day routine for the players is as follows.
Practice from 10:0am until noon, lunch then classes from 1:00pm until the end of day.
This Wednesday is not a normal off day, as the League is in town, for meetings with the players. Therefore the players are on the ice from 9:0 until 10:30, they then meet with the league from 10:45 until 11:45. After the meeting , lunch and then school.
When we schedule a press conference , the media is very important, especially the TV coverage. If you schedule after 3:00 PM you Will not make the news that night.
I hope this gives you a better understanding of the reasoning behind the schedule, and the 12 o'clock Press Conference, but on th good side it is open to the public."

Given that the only TV with any interest in this in the slightest might be CBC Charlottetown...you could easily have invited the players to be introduced by boomer and the weather and had an open house meet the players after that at some sponsors location - The fans are the ones you need to look after and if your product is good enough news wise TV will surely follow. The Guardian would be the only other media of any scope that would cover this and thier deadline would be anytime up top 9 or 10pm?

I must say I did like Bruce Rainnie's response to Fiddler's comments on the Rocket.... at some point they have to live up to the promises of being better.. have Serge do a sit down interview with Bruce and give it 7-9 minutes... better than having Suzanne Guadet come in and relive her 2001 world curling appearance isn't it? (no offense to Suzanne)

It is not that easy to jump on and be a tv with Boomer he has request for spots sometimes months in advance and with the CBC being set up they way it is with staff it is hard for them to get out and do sports stories on the Rocket every night as they do not have extra staff to cover just the Rocket, If you take a look at there sports spots they have one main story per night and the rest are scores. If the Rocket want to make some use of the media the best way is for them to buy adds on CBC.

I would think it will still go ahead but that would be up to the Rocket.
