I thought it might be interesting to look ahead at the rest of the season and at the potential playoff picture.
As it stands today the following are potential matchups
SNB - Rim Hal - SJN CB - Bat Lew - PEI
Potentially you have the following teams fighting for positioning CB (58pts), Lew (52pts), PEI (45pts), Bat (44pts) and SJN (44 pts). So question is where do people think that PEI will finish ?
Well looking ahead at the remaining games.
Remaining Games - 27 Home Games - 16 Away Games - 11
Breaking them down Games against Top teams - 7 (3 Hal, 3 SNB, 1 RN) Games against Bottom teams - 6 (3 Mon, Dru, Rim, Vic) Games against Rivals - 14 (5 Bat, 3 Lew, 3 CB, 3 SJN)
If you want to break it down if PEI came out with 2/14pts against top teams, 8/12pts against bottom teams and 18/28pts against Rivals that would give them a final total of 73 pts.
Based on my guess that PEI finishes with 73 pts it would mean that CB would only need to win 8/22 (0.360), and Lew 11/24 (0.460) to stay ahead but that SJN would need to win 15/24 (0.630) to catch up.
Meaning that realistically speaking PEI will likely finish in 5th possibly 6th depending on Bathurst and obviously those 5 remaining games against Bathurst will determine who finishes ahead.
My guess is that PEI finishes 5th place which means a likely first round matchup with CB. It may not be the most exciting series but it is one that PEI would likely favour in that they are 4-1 over CB who despite a hot start appears to only be playing around 0.500 lately. Could be the best potential matchup for the Rocket.

It would be interesting to break down the other teams schedules in a similar manner I'll take 5th place and a first round against Cape Breton.. as you said it would be a boring series on ice but I think it is one we would be at worst even money to win.. I still think we are better than CB and have maintained that from day one I also think we're better than Lewy but wouldnt wanna face Bernier in a first round matchup .. plus that series would be likely even more boring on ice for excitement and rivalry.. i still hope for another Bathurst matchup tho I doubt it's very likely

you guys unloaded at the deadline, whereas St. John's got stronger. They should be able to pass you, and Bathurst might be able to. THat being said, worst case is probably that you are the last playoff team from our division, and best case is probably that you get to face CB, since any of the others could be trouble.

Rim isn't a bottom team the rest of the league will see that soon enough.

Rim isn't a bottom team the rest of the league will see that soon enough. Yeah, I agree. They're not as bad as their position in the standings would seem to indicate. Kinda like Cape Breton in reverse...

St John's got stronger? how so? they dealt their best player at the deadline just as we did.... they may have gotten a bit stronger but not that much IMO.. they will be close to us for the duration of the season... but i'd like to see their schedule and how it matches up to ours before predicting final standings

there's no way i wouldn't like theirs better than yours. they get a lot of teams for multiple home games in a row to save on travel. they are also almost done with sj for the year. (might be completely done)

Have to be honest after breaking the remaining schedules down I have changed my opinion and it looks like CB has a great shot at holding onto 3rd place especially if they can win 2 of those 3 remaining games against Lewiston all of which are in CB.
Also PEI looks like they have a great opportunity to keep 5th looking at Bathurst & St. John's remaining schedules. ALthough I stress again those 5 games against Bathurst will be huge.
So get your popcorn ready because things will start to heat up ;D

I like our chances to advance to the second round as long as we don't end up facing the top two seeds (likely Halifax and St. john). Round two will depend on if we can ride a hot goalie.
