Falling to 3rd might just be a blessing in disguise for Moncton. Because of their size, Lafrenière and Poulin might make the NHL faster but Pelletier will have just as much impact in the QMJHL as the two of them. From what I've seen so far NOT trading the 3rd overall pick might be one of the best decisions in franchise history. Agree with both comments. Still very early in the career of all 3 players, but getting Pelletier as the "consolation prize"with the #3 pick is looking like quite a gift. Would have had to be a serious overpayment for that pick to even consider doing it. Shannon did something right😳

You can't say I didn't tell you. I was high on Pelletier. He's a special player and in many other drafts he would have been #1 without a doubt.

The current league leader in points, Jordan Martel, was part of the package coming to Moncton.

Bellamy and Pelletier are a good start, but they need help to be the core of a top contender in 2-3 years.

Scoutman has put together his November rankings for the 2018 QMJHL Draft. hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/november-look-at-2018-qmjhl-draft.2410295/Fredericton's Josh Lawrence is ranked #1. He's committed to Boston University. I've heard Thomas Bordeleau is leaning towards NCAA. Jeremie Biakabutuka is the nephew of former NFL running back, Tim Biakabutuka. Brady Burns' father is head coach of Acadia's men's hockey program. Moncton holds Quebec's 1st rounder. Remparts are currently 1st overall in the league. I would expect them to end up in the 12-15 range.

Grametbauer Waite
Welsh Aspirot LeCoultre Auger Bellamy Arsenault Tucker
Pelletier Cyr McKenna MacDonald Tessier Miromanov Campanelli Seitz Dunda Pataki Hudson Blackmore Kuzmin
Cuts(2 of 3): McKenna, MacRae, Wieringa
Dare I say we should add a 19 year old defenceman who could return next year ?

Paquette seems to have misreported (not the first time this has happened) so I wouldn't be adding in Miromanov just yet. But if it does in fact happen out of those 3 I'd keep McKenna mostly due to age but also that he has decent hands and can be a beast physically when he wants to be. I see him as a guy that could break out next season and have some good value where as the other 2 won't be in the picture as 20's. I hope Capanelli & Waite are back in the lineup soon to see what the Cats have there..Waite has been cleared apparently and Capanelli has been skating since at least the quebec roadie which was weeks ago.

When you look at this team, where they were last year and where they are now, I have to say they’ve done a fantastic job acquiring talent. Pelletier, Cyr, McKenna, MacDonald, Capannelli, Seitz all look like good forwards moving forward, the years likely don’t line up for a run but that looks like a solid group of 99 born or later players up front. Add in Hudson, Kuzmin, Blackmore and the other draft picks they’ve acquired and I think you can see a core group starting to come together. As well as Khovanov if he comes and whoever else they draft, things could look even better. The defence is a work in process but Bellamy I think will be a top line defence, Auger is a CHL defenceman, I don’t think he’s going to be a top pairing guy but he can play on any teams defence IMO. Aspirot looks improved, Arsenault and Tucker are solid free agent adds. Odds are likely 1 or more of them can develop into a solid top 4/6 defence. I’m sure some draft picks will be used on defence and or acquisitions to improve the defence. I’m not necessarily sold on MacDonald or Waite becoming the guy and I’d hazard a guess that at least one starter will he brought in if things don’t look like that’ll happen. I’m optimistic at how far things have come, it’s an exciting time after last years train wreck. There’s some very good players on this team and I’m impressed with what they’ve done on the free agent front. Hats off to the front office.

One move that was big in the summer was bringing in Darrell Young, they have added 4-5 really solid players as free agents. Those guys are not the best players but add depth in the middle of the lineup...Seitz Dunda Tucker Kuzmin Pataki Auger...

I haven’t heard anything about him not coming back. I know he is older than guys like Tucker, Arsenault, Auger and co but he's been more reliable in his own end. I wouldn't be too quick to let him go. I wonder what their plan is for Welsh, I had heard they would listen to offers, should be a pretty bullish market for a guy who can generate offense like he does, PP and 5 on 5. It's a peculiar situation, they are 3rd in points but most teams have games in hand on them and their GF-GA is even which spells a team that will come back to earth. The 3-6-2 and 34-51 GF-GA split on the road is also an indication.

Is he still involved now ?
