Anybody wonder why the Cats would go 5 weeks without playing at home? They did the same last year also, I think it went 4 weeks.
You would think they would have a home game here and there to drum up fan interest instead of playing in Springhill and Bouctouche.

I think the whole purpose of the Springhill and Bouctouche games is to drum up fan interest from those regions. I expect that most in Springhill will be cheering for the Mooseheads. I've never attended any of these games in these arenas over the years ... and not about to start this year. These games are the ones they should be running a youtube feed for. I expect the Q owns the rights to these games and won't permit it due to their contract with Neulion or whomever runs the webcasts.

I can see doing it once every 4-5 years, but going to those places every year makes no sense. The fanbase they need is Moncton and area. I don't see a lot of folks driving from Springhill to Moncton to watch junior games...

I get what they are doing but they would probably be better off sticking a little closer in Memramcook, Shediac or even Petty. Problem is I'm not sure those places have ice yet at their rinks. I think what could work great for them is if instead of spending their entire preseason on the road, if they did a promotion every year similar to that CBC Hockeyville thing where one local community can win a preseason game at their rink. Then the fans in those areas have a reason to be engaged in the contest.

So next year with the new building coming on line ... I assume they'll keep the place unused until opening night. No pre-season games at the new rink ... no need to move camp to the new facility from the 4Plex.
I have heard that the City has a concert planned for the opening of the new facility ... no names of who is coming yet.
We should sell the naming rights of the facility to Scotiabank ... call it the Scotiabank Center ... really confuse the world.

" - Good crowd from Moncton in Springhill last year to watch their Wildcats. The club wants to draw from that area.

Still undefeated in regulation!
Wouldn't it be fitting for the Memorial Cup parade to begin at the Coliseum and finish at the new Downtown Events Centre? Anyone know what the plans are? You can go Killam-Collishaw-Vaughn Harvey-Main. It's a bit long but with the incredible season ahead I'm sure they can still pack the route.

Sorry, it's a bit premature to start planning the Memorial Cup parade since it's tough to gauge how we stack up against the OHL and WHL. The city of Windsor spent $40,000 on their Memorial Cup parade last season. Can't wait to see the public's reaction to Moncton's investment. There will be some economic spin off though since it will bring thousands and thousands of people downtown and it will be a great way to kick off the new rink even if it's not for a game. Hopefully the outdoor area is ready by then so they can have the celebration and speeches right there in front of the rink.
