Ottawa is fortunate they can defer the 1st round pick they owe to the Avs if the 2018 pick was top 10 to 2019 because the way the Sens are playing that pick could end up being top 5 easily.

Nashville Preds PRVerified account @predspr · 12h12 hours ago More Since acquiring Kyle Turris in a three-team trade on Nov. 5, his line, along with Kevin Fiala and Craig Smith, has produced a combined total of 32 points (13g-19a) in 12 games, in which the #Preds are 9-2-1. And once Bonino gets it going as the Preds 3rd line C imagine how strong that team is going to be. The Preds weakness in last year's playoffs was depth down the middle and with Poile has taken care of it.

I don't think the Preds had any real weakness in last years playoffs.... they went to the final and damn near won the cup having said that Poile is an exceptional GM who has drafted well and traded fantastically I can't understand how the Sens have completely fallen off the face of the earth... Karlsson has to be hurting....

Poile is a fantastic GM, he saw that he needed to improve the depth there with Fisher retiring and what happened after Johannsen went down in last year's playoffs and added Turris, who is a very good #2, and Bonino, who is a very good #3.

You can give him some credit for drafting, but GM's usually only have big input on early picks, after the top 2 rounds, they depend heavily on their scouts.

i didn't say anything about his past
since the salary cap i think he's likely been the best GM in the league and it's not really even close
he's made more significant trades than anyone else and a large part of that is because of how well he's drafted

I have no idea what is wrong with this team, last season so stellar a goal away from the finals. Back to back being shutout, and please explain to me why Boucher hasn't been fired yet 1 win in like 10 games, and other GM's would have fired the coach by now. (I say Boucher is gone if we get shutout tonight, I love how Pageau said they're sick of losing, well then show it tonight thank goodness these games are too late on the east coast)
I'm sticking by them through thick and thin but this is getting very disheartening, just like Montreal they need to dig their way out of this, O and please refuse in the future to play in Sweden.

The different is pretty apparent in the goalies' stats... This year: Anderson 3.01 GAA .895% Condon 3.18 .904% Last year: Anderson 2.28 GAA .926% Condon 2.50 .914 If you average it out to 2% in save percentage, that's 15.6 more goals on 780 shots this year. Now, you can't call it all on goaltending, losing Methot was a big hole on defense in that he covers for Karlsson. karlsson this yaer is -12 in 21 games, was +10 in 77 last yaer.

Why hasn't Boucher been fired yet? 1 win in 12 games, shut out 3 times out west. I know the guys keep saying it has to come within the 22 guys on the team, but I don't think a coaching trade or a shakeup at the trade deadline would hurt.

This makes their trade look even dumber...

Such a shame, I think if he sold the team to someone who would care about it a little more it would be fine. Become a cap team instead of a budget team and build a new rink in downtown Ottawa so you don’t have to travel way out of town to get to the game and back plus you could get much more foot traffic coming in the door

With the amount of good candidates for an NHL team, I would not be shocked if he moved it, and I would not blame him. The fan support in Ottawa is brutal. Quebec or Houston would be a bigger/better market.

You can paint it however you want, but fajn support in ottawa is pretty poor, plus it's a tough corporate market with Toronto up the 401 and Montreal up the 20.
