Thoughts on the single game ticket prices? moncton-wildcats.com/2018-2019-game-ticketsMakes having season tickets or flex tickets all the more worth it, but I'm curious for people's thoughts on the individual game prices. They're definitely among the highest, if not the highest in the league. Which is fair in a sense considering that this is by far one of the nicest buildings in the league. I was hoping they could keep youth/student at around $10 or lower (and yes I know they're technically lower than $10 pre-fees) since that seems to be the trend a lot of teams are going toward these days. SJ's prices are a good example: sjseadogs.com/singleticketsSo do people think the prices are too high? Too low? Just right?

My own personal opinion is that once tickets for this level get above the $20 range for individual tickets then it's starting to price itself out of the market of a majority of people in this region.
Personally if say me and a buddy are going to a game...$20 as a 1 off say 2-3 times per year...no big deal. That's a $30 night out assuming it's an early night.
But get into me and the wife for a night out and you're into $40 with an inevitable stop for some 50/50 tickets as well as at the concession and/or beer stand. That's a $50-60 minimum for a night out. At playoff time or big late in the season games...that's ok...for Thursdays in November for a middle of the pack team? No chance i'm consistently doing that.
So to me as long as you have the population base and economy to realize that casual fans are only going to be able to afford those prices 3-4 times per year then it's not a bad price point. But in the bigger picture it likely means some of us are likely looking at Jr A or university hockey as a longer term option in our local communities.
Being downtown in Moncton and drawing some younger people into the new rink at first it's probably a fair price point but 1 that will definitely keep some to doing it only for special event kind of games and not really being affordable for non-season ticket holders to take in more then 1 game per week or home stand.

Youth is what age? Senior starts when? Good info to attach to prices no?

I completely agree with your sentiment on the over $20 per game. I cringed a bit when I first looked at the prices. Not all teams have their single game prices listed yet but I have my doubts that anyone else in the Q has a single game ticket over $20. I checked on Remparts tickets and the most expensive is $16.50 for an adult. Very reasonable for a facility of that quality. I believe Halifax stays under $20. I know those are bigger cities that get bigger crowds so it's not an exact comparable. As a season ticket holder I appreciate the savings I get and you can also argue that these prices might push people who can't commit to 34 games to get flex tickets. They do offer 10, 20 and 36-ticket flex packages which is good variety. On the other hand I also appreciate having more people at the games as bigger crowds normally equals a better atmosphere and in turn entices people to come back. There may be some sticker shock when people see these prices but I guess they're hoping the allure of the new arena cancels that out. So I would probably say that in the end I'm not overly thrilled with these prices. I think if you take $3 off each of the total price it would be absolutely perfect. Of course I don't own the team so that's easy for me to say.

Saint John has everything listed very clearly on their website as to what age constitutes what level. They also have what I consider to be just about the perfect price points as well.

I stand corrected on no other Q team having a ticket above $20. Although I looked at their seating chart and the premium section is a very small portion of seats. Other than that $21 is the highest and that's in the center ice sections whereas $21 gets you on the ends in Moncton. Kind of hard to compare though as I would say the events centre is *slightly* nicer than Blainville's arena.

Personally I think teams are starting to price their fans out of being able to go to the games. Obviously they are a luxury that not everyone can afford but if you have a family of 4 and you’re trying to take your 2 kids and wife to a game, you’re looking at $65 before you ever account for potentially parking, food, etc.
It’s not that these games need to be priced so low that they can’t make money but you’re also potentially turning away future fans and instead of a family maybe coming to 2-3 games a month or every couple months, maybe they can only afford to come to 1.
I love the product on the ice, I love watching the progression of the players and seeing the stars of tomorrow before they get to the NHL but it’s starting to get to the point where it’s becoming too expensive to do that consistently, as a non-season ticket holder. It’s fine when the product on the ice is good, when there are players you want to watch but what about when it’s the down years and the teams rebuilding... often the product on the ice isn’t that good, there may not be many players worth watching and while that’s fine for the diehards or for myself that wants to watch the kids progression, it really doesn’t work for the casual fans at a higher price point.

They going to have those discount ticket coupons from sobeys and Tim Hortons? If interested and if plan to go to at least 10 games, get flex tickets.

Purchased a ticket for my friend for the home opener yesterday in section 115. It came out to $23.10.

Of course I don't own the team so that's easy for me to say. And maybe it's just me but we're becoming more and more like the NCAA in terms of taking things away from kids which means the institution, or in this case the owners, just end up making more and more profit in these bigger centers. We were told that we needed to restrict how much we pay 20's because it was hurting small markets. How much we can pay for Euro releases because it was hurting small markets. Capping University monies for local kids because it was hurting small markets. So now a Moncton can charge even more for tickets in a larger revenue generating rink and has to pay out less for players, less for Euro releases, and less for overagers then it did 10 or 15 years ago. More money for the owner. But potentially a more inferior product for the fans and less perks for the players. And somehow some fans justify that as being better for their smaller market team that still struggles to keep fans interested in down years at lower price points.
