You’d have to assume Chicoutimi would want more than a first rounder for him. That a steep price for a team that’s already planning to role out 4 17 year old d. |

I don't think we need a D-man to play regularly on the PP. I mean, if one could be had for the same price as Roy (which I'm assuming is the 12 rounder involved in the D'Orio trade) then great but that's unlikely.I think going out and getting a PP guy would unnecessarily drive the cost up.
Poirier, Villeneuve, and Desroches all got lots of PP time as 16 year olds last season. I expect more of the same from them in their 17 year old season as they are being groomed for their 18 and 19 year old seasons when the team is hopeful to be a contender. It sounds like they expect Lehmus to contribute offensively as well. Not to mention Dixon seems to like using Cajkovic or another forward at the point on at least one PP unit and sometimes even both.
As for Roy, I think I'd rather keep Deakin-Poot but I haven't seen enough of Roy to say for certain. As far as I'm concerned there are currently 3 20-year old spots up for grabs in each of the next 2 seasons after this one. There are a few guys on the current roster who could fill those but they are far from locks at this point. I'd rather spend assets to acquire guys that can fill those spots, whether it be now or later. I think they'll see how the first half goes with this young top 4 and then possibly bring in a 19-year old guy at Christmas if the D is really struggling during the first half.

Also if we are getting Roy to complete the D'Orio trade is there any reason why this didn't happen at the draft? Or is this completely separate from the D'Orio trade?
