I really like the Sea Dogs plan. I’m interested to see how the team continues to develop over the next few years. They seemingly have a great core to be one of the teams to beat (Chicoutimi the other) in three years. I would argue two year time. Keep in mind they have a surplus of picks now to begin to acquire assets where needed to build around the 02 born core.

I can't see any of SJ, Shawinigan, or Bathurst catching BLB. I think the best we can realistically hope for is the 4th best odds going into the lottery. It would be nice if SJ can make it interesting though. Too bad there are no games remaining between the 2 teams.

Since Anthony Stella is our head scout, I asked him for his point of view on Belisle.
He replied "Alexis is resilient, committed to being a hockey player, a leader, can play different roles, hard nosed, battles, speed and skill. Good addition to our group for the future."
Thought I'd share.

Also, if you were to make a lineup of only the 16s that we have, it could something like:
Stairs - Lawrence - Williams Dumont - Burns - Drover Belisle - O'Neill - Richard Provost - Gagnon - Bezeau
Poirier - Villeneuve Kakouras - DesRoches Trottier - McCallum
Savoie Bradford

One of the biggest things going forward is that despite our great draft, we need to walk away from the next one with a few hits as well. If we want to be more like Rouyn, we need to add 3-4 pieces every year to the core to keep it propped up.

Does anyone know about the strength of this year's draft class? Like is it projected weaker or stronger than most? Just wondering if we'll see SJ move some picks from 2020 to stack more 2019 picks.

Since there is likely to be between seven and ten 2002 born players on the roster next season, the current players will need to work hard - especially from now until next season - to retain their spots going forward.
As for the current roster, I would like to see Josh Dixon put Prikryl and Cajkovic together to see if they can develop some chemistry. They looked good the brief time they played together earlier.
Without getting hung up on line numbers, I'd suggest a lineup of;
W. Poirier - Prikryl - Cajkovic White - Burns - Burt Plamondon - Lawrence - Jacob MacIntosh - Deakin-Poot - Wilson Clark / Stairs(AF) / Drover(AF)
Gagne - Villeneuve Campoli - DesRoches J. Poirier - Sibley Musico(AF) / Free Agent (possibly Zack Pilon - if he didn't burn a bridge after camp)
Bouthillier Denisov
And, yes, I'm hopeful that Tommy DaSilva is moved to Junior 'A' to work on his game and get more ice time.

Brady Burns is quietly having a very good rookie campaign. I think he is going to be an excellent player down the line.

While it's highly optimistic (maybe too much so), we need to be looking to pass Shawininigan, Blb and at least one of Val D'Or/Victo in the standings. That would take us from making the playoffs to a reasonable first round matchup against one of Sherbrooke or Gatineau.

Shawinigan is realistic. 1 of the other teams is unlikely but not completely unheard of. I can't see us passing Shawinigan plus 2 more teams that are currently way ahead. But yes that certainly would be ideal.

I will grant that it is very unlikely.
I see BLB and Bathurst as the worst 2 teams in the 2nd half (because of heavy selling). Shawinigan is an incredibly young team (like us), but I see them fading a little in the 2nd half. Victo and Val D'Or hung tight, but could be hurt by schedules and overachieving in the 1st half. Gatineau should also have a rough 2nd half.
I think the optimistic outlook is 25 more points. We could fall significantly short of that, but that's my optimistic outlook.
BLB will be in tough to get more than a couple more points the rest of the season.
