I will grant that it is very unlikely. I see BLB and Bathurst as the worst 2 teams in the 2nd half (because of heavy selling). Shawinigan is an incredibly young team (like us), but I see them fading a little in the 2nd half. Victo and Val D'Or hung tight, but could be hurt by schedules and overachieving in the 1st half. Gatineau should also have a rough 2nd half. I think the optimistic outlook is 25 more points. We could fall significantly short of that, but that's my optimistic outlook. BLB will be in tough to get more than a couple more points the rest of the season. A month ago the Dogs were just looking to win a game. No one would have guessed they would win 5 of their next 10. With 27 games left I would say going 10-17 for 20 points would be realistic estimate. If they somehow caught and passed BLB that would be really fortunate. Both for the draft lottery and success of the second half.

A strong finish would definitely help these kids forget about the very very tough first half of the season, which obviously would benefit us next year. It’s an exciting time to be a seadogs fan I think!

Looking at the remaining games against the bottom 6 teams: BAT 9x STJ 8x SHA 6x VIC 8x VDO 6x BLB 8x
Best case for SJ would be to win all these games and have BLB lose all these games (because of draft pick). The remaining games among the bottom 6 are won by the lowest ranking team. This will give the following points:
SJ 37 VIC 37 VDO 37 BLB 33 SHA 32 BAT 25
Again, this would be best case scenario for SJ among the bottom 6. Theoretically more points can be gained by beating higher ranked teams, but this shows it will be very hard to pass all these teams.

A team other than SJ, Bat, or BLB would have to do a complete nose dive to finish in the bottom 3. Maybe one team could do this, but it's hard to imagine multiple teams doing it since they'll be playing each other at some point.

I heard the Sea Dogs picked up Jordan Spadafore off waivers from the Foreurs. Does anyone know if he is going to report to Saint John? He played on the same team as James White last season...

I can't say for sure - especially since the Sea Dogs (and most QMJHL teams) do not reveal player movement outside the league recorded trades - but many sources have indicated that Jordan Spadafore was acquired via waivers by Saint John. However, he does not appear on the Sea Dogs active roster. I did see a note in the Maritime Hockey League site that Spadafore's rights were acquired by Grand Falls from his former NOJHL team. So, I'd suggest that he is on the Sea Dogs 55-man roster ... and will be available as an affiliate player in the second half. BTW, Patrick Musico - who was with Grand Falls and played with Saint John as an affiliate - was added as the 7th defenceman on the active roster.

If I read this part correctly Drover can play close to 14 games between now and the end of the Dogs Season. Unless they can make the playoff and then get 4 more in.
On Jan. 4, because of QMJHL rules which only allow a certain number of 16-year-old players on a team, Drover signed with the Valley Wildcats of the Maritime Junior Hockey League and will finish the season with the team.
Drover will remain an affiliate player with the Sea Dogs and will be allowed to play 10 games between now and the end of the Wildcats season with Saint John.
“Once Valley’s season is complete, Alex can play the remainder of the games with Saint John and that would not count against those 10 games,” said Dube.

Dawson Stairs now has 15 points in 10 games for Campbelton. He is 8th in the MHL in PPG, with all 7 players above him being 19 or 20.
He's 11th overall in rookie scoring. Carson Gallant has 1 assist in 4 games for Valley. Drover still hasn't played an MHL game yet.

Drover still hasn't played an MHL game yet. That’s because he was busy setting up Charlie Desroches last night in Bathurst 😉

Maxim Cajkovic made team of the week this past week. Good to see him finally come into his own. When he was getting scratched earlier this season I was worried he was a bust. But he has really stepped up as of late. Probably getting cut from the Junior team lit a fire under him.

Not really a surprise that he’d dominate the MHL but Alex Drover with a hat trick and 1 assist in his first game with Valley.

Well tonight's loss was not so good for playoff standings, but could be good for draft pick purposes.
