Lol he got sent home from Hamilton camp for being too fat. Imagine the coach telling you that. There was a guy that wrote an article once that talked about how he played in the ECHL with a guy that was too good for the league but just didn’t care at all about hockey and was concentrating on other things. Apparently it was about Sanford. Sanford played in an era where Dmen had to be big to get an NHL shot. It was probably pretty easy for him to become disillusioned by the whole thing.

Another goal last night. Now has 4 goals in his last three games. He has been promoted to the third line/ 1st PP unit and played significant minutes the last couple games. Safe to say he is in the NHL to stay.

Safe to say he is in the NHL to stay. 6 goals in 16 games. But he didn't register a point until his 8th game. So in his last 9 games he has 6 goals and 2 assists. Four goals in his last 5 games. Small sample of course. With his slowish start to his AHL career this is totally unexpected. Really, any sort of NHL career was unexpected. I figured he'd play 3 years in the AHL and then be off to Europe where he could excel with more room to work with and a less physical brand of hockey.

Not sure how much NHL you watch but certain teams couldn't possibly play a less physical brand of hockey then we're seeing right now. Toronto especially basically plays games with zero contact. Multiple penalty free games. Players like Garland may no longer need to go to Europe to make a living as the NHL game adapts to very little contact and virtually no hitting to the head. I can see him having a long NHL career.

Less cycling of the puck along the boards where bigger player have the advantage knocking smaller players off the puck.

The bigger players will always hold an edge due to their size and strength along the boards. But if the flow isn't killed by coaching I can see us entering a pretty high scoring era with all the young talent really start to produce at higher levels then we've seen in a while.

Ended up with 10 stitches above the eye on the 1st one and came back to score the winner on the power play in the 3rd on his first shift. Puck went in off his skate, not pretty but they still count! Commentators had a lot of positive comments about his junior career!
